Notability

[edit]

Hi, I dont think the freight cars are 'notable' enough to be listed, Southern Pacific (narrow gauge) is my area, and there are about 50+ existing boxcars, about 10 existing stock cars, and several passenger cars that exist. I dont think they all would meet the notable criteria that wikipedia wants. Perhaps 'Preserved NOTABLE Southern Pacific rolling stock' as there are just too many freight cars preserved out there. user:Pzg Ratzinger

Well, that's why they're not listed in a separate article but combined in here. What criteria would you suggest for rolling stock notability? I would restrict this list to at least equipment that is not used in revenue service but is actively preserved as an artifact of Southern Pacific history (so a former SP boxcar that is now serving as some farmer's chicken coop wouldn't be included in the list, nor would a car from just before the UP merger that is still in active service). I'm not certain this should be a standalone article at all. Conceptually, the SP's preserved equipment isn't more or less notable than any other railroad's; unless there's a reliable source making a case otherwise. Mackensen (talk) 21:03, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
