Question about scope

[edit]

Why does this page only have 20th Century playwrights? Also, the categories need fixing to avoid calling people from the United States "American" as if people from South America (for example) aren't also Americans. But fixing them would take more expertise than I have. --Cromwellt|Talk 23:36, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree on both counts. Aristophanes68 (talk) 22:53, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About the expert tag, that tag is meant for requesting expert help on subject matter, not Wikipedia formatting or categorising.. is an expert really needed to compile a simple listing of US playwrights?? -- œ 03:38, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I put the tag there because at the time, the list consisted ONLY of 20th-century people, and I thought maybe an expert could come in and fill in the 18th and 19th centuries. So yes, I did want an expert to compile a list of playwrights. As it is, however, I found a textbook and did much of the work myself. So I'll remove that tag.... Well, now there's NO 20th Century playwrights.Bluespapa (talk) 03:11, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

should playwrights who do not have their own wiki pages be on this list? Vinithehat (talk) 20:09, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Look at Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists#Common selection criteria for more info. It reads to me as though redlinks are not a problem if the list is small enough and exhaustive enough. A few redlinks could be useful for significant entries that need to be created. The question here would be if this article is short enough to warrant their inclusion.
