Comparison of PAV's
[edit]Exactly how can I make the article good enough to have the db template removed. I added references already; a original PAV list is not yet available anywhere on the web; I composed the list myself by browsing the links noted in the references and taking out the most valuable ones. I think the page is very valuable dough; eg to provide readers a fast comparison so they can pick the PAV which is best (cheapest, most useful) for them
KVDP
- In my opinion, if any comparison of aircraft need to be made they should be done on their own page. As is I can be wrong and that is only my opinion. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 17:04, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- If a comparison of only a specific type of aircraft is done, the reader cannot decide what type and brand of PAV is best for him. Its like with automobiles; there are electrical and gasoline versions; what type of vehicle is best for the user depends on the users needs (if one agrees with doing only short trips, eg a electric variant could be better, as its cheaper in use in such case), and it also depends on the model (eg certain electric cars may have greater range than gasoline cars with a very small gasoline tank). This gives a hint of the complexity of the topic, and justifies why a comparison for PAV's should have its own page.

airships
[edit]some PAV airships designs can be added to compare against the other types. Haven't found any as of yet; the aerobatic airship,
this site: http://www.acceleratingfuture.com/michael/blog/2006/08/airships-for-the-masses/ describes the idea; but the only airships manufacturer that is selling only has hot air balloons (not hydrogen)
http://www.21stcenturyairships.com/EraBanner this airship may be used for personal transport, but perhaps too expensive to mention —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.182.167.19 (talk) 15:41, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
if used with eg a remote operating cable (eg skyhook, ...) could pickup people in town functioning as pav —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.176.216.207 (talk) 07:39, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Other types
[edit]Some autogiro's could be included, prices of these are around 7-8000€, see http://ultralight-airplanes.info/Gyrocopters-%5E%5E%5E%5E%5E-What-Are-They-And-Can-You-Have-One%5E%5E.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.176.222.107 (talk) 12:07, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Panasonic's "Oxyride Manned Airplane Project" (http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-148326743.html) may be used in table to compare costs (i'm guessing this was a cheap aircraft vs gain (useful if the power cells are swapped with fuel and engine or atleast pv-recharged deep-cycle batteries and perhaps a somewhat scaled-up/stronger design A low-cost motorized delta plane is to be added aswell to list (probably very good cost/result ratio) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.182.185.211 (talk) 06:56, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
The Kamov Ka56, Dornier Do 32, Half pint helicopter, Advanced Tactics Black Night Transformer are not decribed here. Not sure however whether they are suitable as PAV's or whether their price is in line with other PAV's.

Redirecting
[edit]The term "personal air vehicle" was introduced to describe a specific class of aircraft not then covered by legislation. Most of the types in the list either belonged to other classes of aircraft or were not verifiably notable. After I had cleaned these out, only about half a dozen were left. This is clearly not enough to sustain a viable article, so I copy-pasted the list into the parent article and made this page a redirect. That was naughty, it really needs a history and talk page merge, but I don't have time to follow that up. If anybody cares to oblige with the necessary bureaucracy, you have my thanks. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 13:31, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
