Photo Slash

[edit]

Hello people, there is an edit war between this 2 pictures

and wanted to know what you think because we are a community.

I say my, the second photo is of good quality but the expression second me isn't very beautiful and still is in 2009 is therefore the oldest. I leave you the response.--85.237.212.171 --85.237.212.171 (talk) 11:22, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reginal Mitchell

[edit]

I see that this page is perpetuating the myth that R J Mitchell is from Stoke On Trent! Mitchell was born and raised in Kidsgrove, which was, and still is, part of Newcastle Under Lyme. His education took place in Hanley, but his birthplace is Newcastle. Unless there is a valid reason why, in Wikipedia, the birthplace of a person is less important than their place of education, could this please be corrected. I would do it myself, but don't know how. Thanks Davenul60 (talk) 13:48, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You're being technical. Technically the City general hospital is in Newcastle, and so anyone born there isn't from Stoke-on-Trent either. Mitchell is considered a son of Stoke-on-Trent, most notably by his family: “It would have been more appropriate to keep the school name; especially as Stoke was his birthplace and has benefited in the past from his legacy,” said his grandson, David, 61. Besides, the first line of the article states that "This is a list of notable people who were born in or near, or have been residents of the City of Stoke-on-Trent, England." People from just outside the city generally find the city a significant part of their lives, particularly Mitchell, who was educated there as you say.--EchetusXe 15:04, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

EchetusXe - Firstly, the City General/UHNS is in Stoke On Trent, not Newcastle - check the border between SOT and NUL on the OS map. Secondly, it is clear even his own family are incorrect as the phrase "especially as Stoke was his birthplace" is clearly wrong. Admittedly, there are people in the list who were not born in Stoke but are linked to the area. Perhaps some way of amending the list to include a place of birth if not actually Stoke might be a good way. Incidentally, the list of people from Newcastle Under Lyme doesn't include Mitchell which I think should be remedied. Davenul60 (talk) 18:02, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
