A page similar to this one. List of people from San Francisco, is currently under review as an article for deletion, for reasons which would apply to this article as well. I am conducting an RfC on the talk page of the above-mentioned list to determine whether the concensus agrees on keeping such lists or not. Any and all comments are more than welcome. People from Albuquerque or who have lived there?

[edit]

What is the point of this list? I did some clicking on a few of the names and quite a few of them aren't born in Albuquerque (like all the names before Pete Domenici on the list). Does Wikipedia really require a list of people who have lived in a particular city? A list of people born there, yes... but does Freddie Prinze, Jr. really call Albuquerque his hometown? There appear to be some dubious entries, like Bill Gates. In general, these lists are usually comprised of people who have lived in a place for a significant period of time. There aren't any rules. -Will Beback · · 18:35, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List order

[edit]

I changed the list from chronological/topic order to just topic order because having everyone cross-listed in two places makes the list difficult to maintain. I looked at some of the lists for other cities and they mostly seemed to be arranged by general field and then alphabetically, so that's what I did here. I don't think having a chronological listing really adds much. I'll work on getting the list sourced and cleaned up as I have the time. Camerafiend (talk) 16:15, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

List entries removed

[edit]

I've removed some people from this list:

  • Jim Morrison. He spent part of his childhood (roughly age 4–5 and 12–14) in Albuquerque, along with at least half a dozen other places. (See [1].) It's hard to make the case that he meets any reasonable definition of "from Albuquerque."
  • Bryan Cranston. Bought a house in Albuquerque [2], but no evidence he intends to stay once his current TV show is completed.
  • Steve-O. Many online biographies [3] [4] make no mention of Albuquerque. On his own site, he only mentions living there briefly in the late 1990s, while providing a laundry list of other places he lived growing up. IMDB and a handful of newspaper articles [5] (which may well have been sourced from the IMDB bio) describe Albuquerque as his hometown, but on the balance of evidence I don't think this is reliable.

That's all for now; I may find more as I keep working on this. Camerafiend (talk) 03:48, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you erase Ross Anderson Professional/ World Cup skier? You realize he lives in Albuquerque and still owns the All American Record as of this April 15 years. As well as a full blooded Cheyenne and Arapaho and chiricahua Apache. His wiki pedia still is Ross Anderson skier.
