Wrestlers

[edit]

Does anyone know who these people are, or have a reference for them? Kevin 03:34, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete list!

[edit]

I don't see my name on this list. I am from Adelaide. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EPMD (talkcontribs) 05:22, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitrary editing guideline violations by Wikipedia administrators

[edit]

I've noticed that when you look at the edit history page, there are multiple cases where a notable person was removed from the list because an admin said it was 'unsourced' or something similar. And yet, plenty of entries in the list lack sources, but they still remain. In fact Wikipedia's standard practise is that you place a citation flag with a date on it and then allow an appropriate time for other Wiki editors to fill in the details (thats how wikis in general work). Yet admins seem to have a policy of randomly reverting only a few specific additions (why only these specific ones? Did Roy Ananda, or Chris Sperou, or Danny Phillipou - all of whom are real people with news articles or other sources reporting on or about them, some even with Wikipedia pages about them - do something to upset an admin once?) that lack citations, while leaving plenty of others that lack citations alone. There seems to be no consistent rule applied. Quick google searches turn up easy citations for many of the removed people, yet the admins in question apparently haven't performed those searches to add the citation, as would be the normal expected practise of a person imposing a deletion for lack of sources. 118.209.1.41 (talk) 01:31, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IP, I'm not an admin, but my general practice has been to remove names that don't have either a wikilink or a reference, as a wikipedia article in and of itself establishes notability, so there is no inconsistency in not having references for those people. Nothing personal against anyone, but given how often pages like this are vandalised by people adding themselves or made up people, I have no problem putting the onus on those who want a name included to establish notability by either providing a wikilink to show they have a wikipedia article or providing a reference.
