I am not sure the text beside John Simon, is as well worded as it could be. It currently says "in Churchill's Government, Home Secretary, Foreign Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Chancellor, former Head of School." In fact Simon only held one post under Churchill, that of Lord Chancellor, unusually was not in the Cabinet when he held this. Churchill - who did not have a good relationship with him by this point - had actually demoted him from Chancellor of the Exchequer, the position he had held under Neville Chamberlain. Also he had 2 spells as Home Secretary, the first under H. H. Asquith when he was still a Liberal. He then held this post again, after a period as Foreign Secretary, in the National Governments of the 1930s when he was leader of the Liberal National Party. Thus I think this could be better worded, and the Churchill reference should be omitted. Dunarc (talk) 23:52, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
