This state's highway naming convention is up for debate above. Feel free to participate. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 05:41, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Shields

So what if they weren't the ones used? We don't use former shield designs for decommissioned routes in other states. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 01:02, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

DC is a special case, where there is no continuity between the original routes and the current DC 295. --NE2 01:31, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Interstate 395 Alternate

Can someone add Interstate 395 Alternate? I was in DC in August or September, and I saw signs for it. I even took some pictures. Allen (talk) 15:21, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that Wasington DC wasn't a state? If so then why has this article appeared alongside all the other states in List of state highways in the United States? -- Graham ☺ | Talk 01:11, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)

  • For the same reason that Hawaii has interstate highways? :-). I'm guessing that even though DC isn't a state in and of itself, there's a state highway running through it, and somebody thought to be complete. I'd say delete, maybe put a footnote or nota bene on the List page about it. Inky 02:11, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • I'm ambivalent. First, if it is kept, it should be something like List of Washington D.C. district highways; however, according to this and this, DC 295 is the only signed district highway, making a "list" rather superfluous. My sugestion is to edit the List of state highways in the United States to indicate that 295 is the only district highway in D.C. and delete this. olderwiser 02:44, Dec 15, 2004 (UTC)
  • Turn it into a redirect to hwy 295? 132.205.15.43 03:18, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: I-295 is the only one, and that very quickly becomes a different state highway. A list can't have a population of one, and that's aside from DC not being a state. Geogre 04:59, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. No redirect necessary. utcursch 08:26, Dec 15, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. I live in DC, and can assure you that there is only one Interstate running through the District. And it's only about 5 or 10 miles long, something ridiculous like that, before it breaks off into another state. No need for a list. Katefan0 14:12, Dec 15, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete before somebody starts List of Puerto Rico state highways. [[User:Livajo|Ливай | ]] 16:30, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, can you even have a list of one? Rje 16:31, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, obvious data dump. Wyss 19:19, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Change to a note on the state highway list per older≠wiser, above, and delete this. It is at the same level as state highways, and is marked as such on maps, so I think a link to Washington D.C. District Route 295 should be on List of state highways in the United States, with a brief explanation. It doesn't really matter, but contrary to what is stated above, there are three Interstate highways in DC (66, 295, and 395), and three US highways (1, 29, and 50) {forgot to sign Niteowlneils 23:25, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)}
  • rename to District of Columbia numbered routes. Currently there are the Interstates, US Routes, and DC 295, but there used to be other DC routes - http://memory.loc.gov/pnp/fsa/8b14000/8b14400/8b14423r.jpg . I've expanded the article to this end. --SPUI 20:52, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep as District of Columbia numbered routes or District of Columbia highways or somesuch. Niteowlneils 23:25, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
