Accuracy of article
[edit]This article claims to be a list of forest reserves in Sri Lanka but actually contains info about national parks. We already have an article about national parks - List of national parks of Sri Lanka.--obi2canotibetalk contr 12:26, 23 December 2015 (UTC)
So where is the issue with factual accuracy? This article will be expanded to include nature reserves other than national parks. National parks are not the only forest reserves. this is why I moved the article from a list to forest reserves in Sri Lanka, which you readily reverted. - The factual inaccuracy is that it doesn't contain any forest reserves. Forest reserves are managed by the Department of Forest Conservation whereas national parks are managed by the Department of Wildlife Conservation. And tell me how "Forest Reserves in Sri Lanka" shows that "national parks are not the only forest reserves"?--obi2canibetalk contr 13:25, 23 December 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, please check the below links from the website of Department of wildlife conservation [here] and the list of Forest reserves that that they manage [here], the department of Forest conservation only manages few forest reserves which I listed in their website [here], DWLC's duties supersedes that of DFCs, I still don't understand what this has to do with factual accuracy of the article? National parks are indeed forests are you having any doubts on that? Please check the Forest article by definition "A forest is a large area of land covered with trees or other woody vegetation", I am reverting to the article without disputed tag, unless otherwise you have a different explanation ---NëŧΜǒńğerTalk to me 12:45, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
- Neither of the DWC links state that they manage "Forest Reserves" or "Nature Reserves". And as this link states, 55% of forest in Sri Lanka are managed by the Forest Department.
- What are you trying to achieve with this article? What are you trying to capture in this article? Forests are is a large area of land covered with trees but forest reserves are different, they have some sort of protection. Nature reserves are different as well, they are protected areas but aren't necessarily forests. Protected areas in Sri Lanka fall into several categories. Those managed by the DWC are: National Parks; Strict Nature Reserves; Nature Reserves; Elephant Corridors; and Sanctuaries. Those managed by the FD are: National Heritage Wilderness Areas; Conservation Forests; Reserved Forests; Village Forests; and Other State Forests.
- As it stands, this article is incoherent and incomplete. You need to decide what you want to include. And make sure you are not duplicating content - we already have List of national parks of Sri Lanka and Protected areas of Sri Lanka.--obi2canibetalk contr 17:49, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Obi2canibe, good that you have gone through the links I provided, appreciate your keenness. I am aware of the other articles you mentioned. None of them are complete or coherent as much as this one, that is why I renamed this article as forest Forest Reserves of Sri Lanka in order to merge all of these articles into one single coherent article covering all topics, but you readily reverted it. Since you have gone through the links I provided above and amassed some knowledge on the subject, why don't you join me in completing this article? I am sure we can work together to make it a featured article. NëŧΜǒńğerTalk to me 10:33, 29 December 2015 (UTC)
- If you want to list every forest in Sri Lanka the article should be called List of forests in Sri Lanka. As it stands it only includes national parks and is therefore redundant to List of national parks of Sri Lanka. And if you believe your efforts are better than List of national parks of Sri Lanka you must be a product of standardised education.--obi2canibetalk contr 16:25, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- Educated people don't comment on others education; nor do they act with prejudice.. I have seen childish behavior of editors in the past and present on many topics. I am going to refrain from commenting any further.NëŧΜǒńğerTalk to me 10:33, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
