Manchester?
[edit]Some of these artists/groups are not strictly from Manchester, for example the Happy Mondays are from Salford, the Inspiral Carpets are from Oldham and the The Smiths are from Salford/Trafford:- Not Manchester
The list should either a) make this clearer in the opening section, or b) change the article title to Bands from Greater Manchester.
This is an encyclopedia article, rather than a sweeping NME column! We really ought to get this much more accurate! Thanks, Jhamez84 22:23, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
The link to The Drones currently points to an Australian band with the same name. The original Manchester band "The Drones" predates the Australian band.
Just bands or solo artists too?
[edit]Should this list be limited to bands, or should solo musicians be included too?
Currently there are a number of individual musicians on the list (Ian Brown, Isobel Heyworth, John Cooper Clarke, John Squire, ...) while it omits others (notably Morrissey).
Either this list should be renamed, or all the individual musicians should be removed. Any preference which? --David Edgar 19:35, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- I say rename - probably to List of musical acts from Greater Manchester. -- Jza84 · (talk) 00:01, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, otherwise we would have epistemic problems regarding "what counts as a solo artist" etc.. Jdcooper 15:17, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Where're we drawing the line on WP:LINKSPAM?
[edit]Is this edit an addition of WP:LINKSPAM? The Marivaux seem to be far from WP:NOTABLE – Ian, DjScrawl (talk) 17:04, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Some Artists/Bands shouldn’t be on here
[edit]Hello all. I believe this article is for bands from either the city of Manchester or the greater Manchester area. However, some bands which I have removed are not from either. For example Viola beach were added but they were a Warrington band which is Cheshire. I think there needs to be be clarity as to is categorised as a ‘Manchester artist/band’.
