If this list is being used to generate separate entries, I'm all for it. It places a great deal of information and structure at the fingertips of a contributor, but I'd like to see it disappear when all the entries have been solidified. I would rather not "prod" this entry without a little more guidance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ernstwll (talk • contribs) 19:01, 2007 October 2 (UTC)

Can we make the list into a table?
I think it would be better if the listing is made into a table instead. Listing 1:the company name, the mobile brands it manufactures (some IPs has confused mobile brands for mobile manufacturers), 3. home country of the manufacturer, 4. Establishment year and 5.disestablishment year.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 02:25, 21 August 2016 (UTC)

@Henrisalameh: Not done for now: Why should Kazam be removed? Do we have an existing article on STK? The link you gave for STK is just for a disambiguation page (which does not seem to point to a likely phone manufacturer). If we don't have an article, you will need to provide reliable sources which demonstrate their eligibility for inclusion via notability. Thanks. Murph9000 (talk) 20:16, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Turkey
General Mobile. It is by far more popular than Aselsan. Aselsan is specialized in military equipment; General Mobile is a popular consumer brand. According to this article; http://www.ekonomist.com.tr/teknoloji/akilli-telefonda-yerliler-ataga-gecti.html Vestel has 5% market share in Turkey and General Mobile 11%. So it would be the most popular among the Turkish brands. Also, new products of Casper are very popular. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.38.157.211 (talk) 08:53, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Quick Note on Wording of Page Title and/Or Table Headings
- Would be best to combine the tables and add a column for status e.g. Defunct, Exited the Industry, etc.
- The page is titled "... list of ... Makers ...", yet the table column header is "Brand" - they are not one-in-the-same. Presumably, a "maker" can make multiple "Brands". Lets get the terminology in line with the intent of the page. "Manufacturer" might be the most unambiguous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.7.136.238 (talk) 12:53, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

Can someone confirm and if so, edit or make note that LeEco doesn't manufacture phones anymore, or even if they still are a company, or part of? The last batch of phones that I'm aware of (I have the Pro 3 x720) uses the Snapdragon 820/821 which was a couple years back, and I remember reading something about how the owner left China after owing them money and came here to the US. Motorola Mobility
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Information to be added or removed: Motorola Mobility is currently listed under American brands however, it is arguably a Chinese brand or former American brand smartphone manufacturer. Explanation of issue: Motorola Mobility is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lenovo, China. It is unclear from the current listing. References supporting change: https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702303973704579352263128996836 Yooodooo (talk) 10:23, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- I don't see how this information is incorrect, if it was a former American brand. The list currently does not delineate (or set aside space for) listing the differences between brand names that have undergone a change of ownership. Spintendo 14:33, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- Lenovo brand for mobile phones is now defunct as it has been replaced by Motorola Mobility. Propose to move Lenovo into Defunct (on the same reasoning Microsoft Mobile has been moved to defunct on this article. Also, can we move Motorola Mobility to the Hong Kong/China listing with dates it was purchased by the Chinese company? --Yooodooo (talk) 10:20, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
replace Lenovo with Lenovo Smartphones and move to defunct
Lenovo smartphones has been subsumed by Motorola Mobility brand, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenovo_smartphones. I think ZUK also needs to be moved to defunct as it was also subsumed by Motorola Brand when it was purchased by Lenovo. --Yooodooo (talk) 10:38, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
BlackBerry
Some inaccuracies here:
- BlackBerry Limited should be moved to Defunct. The Blackberry partnership with TCL alluded to is known as BlackBerry Mobile.
- BlackBerry Mobile (with a Chinese flag as it is TCL) should be added under Defunct. Their partnership ended in 2020.
- The upcoming BlackBerry phone is being produced by OnwardMobility (no article yet.) This is the only company actively using the BlackBerry brand on a mobile phone. [2]
