Accidental and introduced species?
[edit]This list is sloppy, not at all complete and sometimes misleading. Some of those animals are not actually present in Belgium or only as accidental. Apart from the differences with the list in Dutch, should the species that are in best only accidental (like the common Genet) be noted with an (A) as in most lists.
Also, where does the inclusion of the Brown bear come from, it is extinct in this part of Europe at least since the middle ages. The wolf and lynx have moved from extinct (the last Belgian wolf had been shot in 1950, the first single live specimen in recent times was found last year; lynx is less rare but still not established.) to accidental in recent times. The beaver is also recently re-introduced after being extinct for quite a time.
Also missing are a lot of introduced species, like fallow deer (present since Roman times), or more recent established species like the raccoon and raccoon dog, and the Moeflon in the South and maybe the chinese muntjak deer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.198.115.62 (talk) 12:00, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
