Filling in some binomial authorities and creating some new stubs. These are all works in progress.

Guessing he's this chap: Chapman, Henry Cadwalader
Although publishing his research in many fields of biology and natural science, his speciality was fossil shells. His drawings on stone illustrated much of the American Journal of Conchology.
Brothers Hugh & Geoffrey Nevill. These two crop up a lot. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 18:05, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Lots of information, just need to transliterate sources and shape into proper article.
Some information, but need to translate from German and Hungarian sources.
Lots of species described but no real biographical information. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 02:14, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There's a whole book devoted to Couper, and stacks of plantation records, certainly enough for a decent bio. Little in the way of good material regarding conchology. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 06:32, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Enough for a decent bio here. Needs transliterating and list of her finds/works would be good. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 13:28, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Michele and Mario Lessona

[edit]

I have added a brief new article about Mario Lessona who was the author of a couple of malacological papers on Italian slugs, including the important monograph with Pollonera. When I came to add his name here, I saw that his father Michele Lessona was listed. Michele was a prominent Italian biologist (e.g. translating work of Darwin) and became a senator. But he was a vertebrate man and I am not aware of any work of his on molluscs, so I suspect that his listing here is a confusion with his son (both are M. Lessona). I have removed Michele from the list but please reinstate if I am mistaken Jmchutchinson (talk) 00:17, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have now discovered that Michele Lessona wrote a treatise on Cephalopods, so he does deserve to be included. In fact, it looks like I forgot to take him out anyway! Jmchutchinson (talk) 06:31, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
