notes

[edit]

I moved this 21st century listing from List of lunar eclipses since it was so long.

I removed two columns that were largely empty, added a column for Ascending/Descending nodes (and colored background by this). I'd like to add colums for the Saros cycle #, an series #. I might support removal of the start/end times, especially if stub articles could be created for all of them, but the times can be computed approximately from the duration, so its still justifiable to remove.

Well, still just playing around. A serious effort would be more systematic, too easy to make mistakes on hand-editing, so getting an automated table builder from an external source would be superior. Tom Ruen (talk) 03:04, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why are 20th-century eclipses included?

[edit]

It is confusing to include eclipses from the 20th century (1998 to 2000) in a list that specifically states that the eclipses listed are from the 21st century. Why do this? -- B.D.Mills  (T, C) 03:07, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is no special local to breaking up by centuries other than convenience. I added a few redundant eclipses to complete the current "lunar eclipse year" cycle. SockPuppetForTomruen (talk) 20:58, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't the 2013 Apr 25 Partial Lunar Eclipse be listed before the 2013 May 25 Penumbral Lunar Eclipse? Mbase1235 (talk) 17:05, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GMT vs UT

[edit]

The article might need to mention the relation between GMT and UT and provide links as it may confuse people. Verycuriousboy (talk) 05:50, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I linked to UTC so that should help. Tom Ruen (talk) 07:58, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A stubby little hyphen is not a minus sign

[edit]

Look:

–5 and −5
-5

These look different! See WP:MOSMATH#Minus_sign. I've done some cleanup, but a lot more is needed. Michael Hardy (talk) 19:46, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've put a section-cleanup tag on the table section. Michael Hardy (talk) 19:49, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Undone. There is no automated way to do this since dashes are needed for proper table formatting. Having a random mix of minus signs band dashes is just an eyesore.  — TimL • talk 01:07, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Life is much too short for perfection. (p.s. The second looks better to me!) Tom Ruen (talk) 03:55, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Abbreviations

[edit]

@Tomruen: I am not very good in English. Can someone please explain to me these abbreviations?

  1. Pen. Penumbral
  2. Umb. Umbral
  3. Par Partial
  4. Tot (maybe Total?)
  5. RA - Right Ascension
  6. Decl. - Declination

I am going to translate it to Czech article. Thanks --Patriccck (talk) 12:27, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress
