This article cites a single (ad-supported) website. It is not clear who publishes that website or what their sources of information are. I suggest that this is not a sufficiently reliable source. Another user recently added a reference to an additional website, but my impression is that the additional source that was added is also low quality. Can't we find something on this topic published by Forbes, Bloomberg, Fortune, or the banking industry? Also, since the article is basically just a copy of what is found at the cited source, there may be some copyright concern. —BarrelProof (talk) 20:48, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

These are good points -- and the sources in this article have evolved over time for the worse it seems. I will take a look around online for other sources. Getting the market capitalization is easy for any company that is publicly traded, the market cap would just have to be noted as being "as of" a particular day. The rank by assets is a little harder perhaps because it might rely on financial disclosures from the firms themselves. So I will try to start taking a look at this -- it is not an overnight fix though. JEN9841 (talk) 01:48, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete List

[edit]

Add Signature Bank to this list. Its consolidated assets (3/31/2019): US$ 48.558 billion. Look list of largest banks (Federal Reserve). 7/4/2019. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nosttradamuz (talkcontribs) 01:03, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It seems the source was updated over time to a more reliable one, thus changing the metrics used. The top 100 listed in this article are different from the top 100 in the Federal Reserve source. Bottom line, the list is indeed incomplete (a similar event of someone changing the metrics could be the reason), and I propose it should be fixed by mirroring the new source. List with newest data (3/31/2022) from Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council

[edit]

This article should be updated with that information (3/31/2022). The data source is already written in the article. YMVD (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 17:26, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
