"Defunct" list suggestions
[edit]It would be helpful if the "Defunct" list had one or two additional columns (though, could potentially be the same single additional column):
- "Defunct Date" or "Date Defunct", which specifies the date on which the entity became defunct
- "Acquired Date" or "Date Acquired", which specifies the date on which the entity was acquired by another entity
The only issue I foresee for combining the two columns into one is if the defunct and acquisition dates differ. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:7080:FF41:22EE:BE09:1BFF:FE05:90EC (talk) 15:03, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
Google's Chromebook
[edit]Google has released a laptop, the chromebook, with it's own operating system, my source: www dot google dpt com/intl/en/chrome/devices/ 74.124.101.211 (talk) 07:35, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- It's not by Google. The Chromebook just installs all Google apps in different computers, such as Acers, Samsungs, etc. Cheers, Zalunardo8 (talk) 15:18, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Asus is not an acronym hence not ASUS
[edit]Asus is not an acronym even though the company name is written as ASUSTek Computer Inc. The brand is Asus. -Polytope4d (talk) 11:54, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Major/Other
[edit]What are the criteria for putting a manufacturer in major or in other section? Number of notebook produced? Number of notebook sold? Annual gross? Need quotation here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.201.75.204 (talk) 01:54, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- For brands it is number of notebook sold. There was a reference, but it somehow dissapeared. Feel free to add fresh reference (and possible clean-up majors list. --Jklamo (talk) 10:06, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
Panasonic makes Satellite, wot?

Alienware is not "Defunct"
[edit]Alienware was acquired by Dell, but it was never "defunct". Removed from that section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8803:1C00:A1D0:1859:EB5E:F636:6A8 (talk) 03:08, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Acer not on the list?
[edit]It seems Acer is not mentioned in the main list, nor other sections. I do not know if this was intentional, for it is mentioned elsewhere in the article, but I believe it was forgotten in creating this page. I would not want to add erroneous information, and so will not at this moment in time edit this article. Kc110521 (talk) 07:55, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- It was some old vandalism. I have updated the list.Jklamo (talk) 09:08, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

Market shares are not for laptop computers
[edit]The source article for the market shares lists tells the market share of all personal computers, not laptops. 2003:DF:5F47:7038:2092:7896:310B:62B2 (talk) 07:30, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
