Note that $\scriptstyle {\mathrm {arctanh} (y)-\mathrm {arccoth} (y)=(2n+1)i{\frac {\pi }{2}}}$ (for integer $\scriptstyle {n}$). So changing between arctanh() and arccoth() merely changes the constant of integration. It is true however that arccoth() is more appropriate for real arguments greater than one (or less than minus one), since then complex arithmetic is avoided. --catslash (talk) 21:20, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
