Question
[edit]Kges1901 I do not understand. Why does the U.S. Army get rid of, for example, 2nd Battalion, 116th Infantry, but retain 3rd Bn? From a British Commonwealth perspective it's unforgivable lack of attention to seniority.. Buckshot06 (talk) 10:20, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
- Buckshot06 This is because of the lineage of the National Guard being tied to place more than unit designation, and consolidation of lineages meaning that most National Guard combat arms units are equally distinguished. In the specific case of 2-116, its companies were split between 3-116 and 1-116. In short, you could say that there is an entirely different concept of seniority for the National Guard.
