Notability and citations
[edit]This article is an alphabetized list of guitarists who are notable for their use of the hybrid picking technique in live performances or studio recordings. Musicians should be listed here only if their use of this technique has been especially significant - it's neither a laundry list nor a fan site. Entries without supporting references are subject to deletion. Regards, Chuckiesdad/Talk/Contribs 19:25, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
199.43.13.100 (talk) 16:21, 10 January 2011 (UTC) So you have Jimmy Page as being a 'notable' hybrid picker (wtf?), and yet no mention of Mark Knopfler. Idiots. No wonder Wikipedia is seen as such a joke.
Spongebobrob (talk) 00:59, 4 January 2012 (UTC) This page doesn't really make any sense to me in it's current form. It states that "Musicians are listed here only if their use of this technique has been especially significant." Significant to whom exactly? Hybrid picking is used in so many different genres and styles of guitar playing and it's 'significance' is something completely subjective to each genre or style, and also to how each person rates the guitarist and their ability to use this style of picking. I can't ever see this page fulfilling its task of becoming a coherent, definitive list, the way it is currently set up. Even the way the Names are alphabatised is very off putting, and not even in the right order many times. Mightn't it make more sense to split hybrid pickers up by genre? Then you might get people willing to edit and do a good job of describing the pickers within a certain genre or style of guitar playing...
vlmagee I'm not sure either what this page is supposed to be. It says that names without supporting references are subject to deletion, yet almost none of the names have references. Like the fellow above who was shocked that Mark Knopfler was not listed, I was shocked that Steve Gillette was not listed. Unlike that fellow, however, I did something about it. It would be nice if somebody could research this and write a coherent article about this subject. Steve names Clarence White as one of his influences, and I am sure that some sort of time line could be put together. A fun project, perhaps? Vlmagee (talk) 00:30, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
Hinds and Wylde
[edit]I added Brent Hinds and Zakk Wylde to the list. I feel that they are notable due to their incorporation of the technique into heavy metal, not something often seen. DaddyTwoFoot (talk) 08:28, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Greg Koch
[edit]I wanted to get an opinion as to adding Greg Koch. world renown guitar player who is well known for his hybrid (chicken) picking. Uses a flat pick for the bass notes and fingers for the others. Lubbad85 (talk) 17:40, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
