This is a long list of place names (presumably municipalities) most with dates. What do the dates mean? What does the indenting mean? It's been tagged for cleanup for over a year without progress. RJFJR 03:44, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is the source for the data (we need references). RJFJR 03:44, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This article needs a rewrite since the format isn't clear. If someone has a source of I'm willing to do work on settign up a new version of the article. RJFJR 23:16, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto to all these questions. I've made it aesthetically more pleasing, but it's now clearer than ever that there are many duplicate entries—not only repeated municipal names, but same dates on the same towns. And what do those dates mean? This almost looks like a candidate for AfD. Unschool 21:26, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Working on it

[edit]

I'm in the process of finding information from non-Wikipedia sources about the dates shown in this list. So far, it looks like the dates are either when the listed town was incorporated or when another town was formed from the listed town's land. I'll edit the article with the new info (and citations) when I've got a bit more. Pastafarian Nights 15:16, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaned up?

[edit]

Since someone has reformatted the article, should the cleanup tag be removed?Wai Hong 00:24, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dates

[edit]

It is my opinion that if the dates do not have an explanation then they are useless, and thus worth removing. This means a smaller, easier to read list. For instance do we really need to list Centre Township 21 times, some with the same date? I will scale down the size of the list and alphabetize it as well. I will also leave the first date listed by each municipality (in case this should its founding/incorporated/etc. date). If there is an explanation by the date I will also leave that as well. If it looks like I excluded pertinent information please feel free to add it back to the article. -Barkeep 14:51, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone think that the historical data listed under each city is worth providing? We can remove it and keep it simply a list. If someone wants that information and history they can click on the desired municipality link in the table at the bottom of the page. -Barkeep 15:43, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A dozen years later: looking at the original edits, I think the OP was trying to show the chronological progression from Camden County's first 6 municipalities. It just needed some more research/cites(!) and elaboration like user Pastafarian Nights had started to do. Using Centre Township as an example, Union Township was split up in 1855 into Union and Centre Twps. Centre Twp was in turn split into Centre Twp and Haddon Heights in 1904, and again with Magnolia in 1915. Ultimately, Centre Twp was eliminated with the creation of Lawnside in 1926. Confusingly, though, the boro info was entered in archeological order (ie most recent on top), working backwards in time. Unfortunately, various "cleanup" edits have removed the structural indentations, alphabetized, and categorized what had been a historical list into essentially a random list. I tried to add a simpler indentation structure to Pastafarian Night's elaborations; I don't know how to recover the remainder. 107.77.203.20 (talk) 03:42, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
