Article not fit for purpose
[edit]This article has extensive problems with sourcing, verifiability and factual accuracy. I have just undertaken an extensive correction of the data in the first table: [1]. For example, the article had Zootopia listed in top place with a global opening of $233.9 million, yet Box Office Mojo does not have it listed on its chart at http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/worldwideopenings.htm. In fact, according to http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=main&id=disney2016.htm Zootopia had a domestic opening of $75 million and a foreign opening of $4.5 million, for worldwide opening of less than $80 million. The problems with accuracy extend all the way through the article. There are also problems with sourcing: there are broken citations from 10 through 23, and in some cases the wrong sources are being used. For example, Shrek 3 is listed at #5 in the List_of_highest-grossing_openings_for_animated_films#Biggest_opening_day_in_U.S._and_Canada_for_an_animated_film_since_1992 section but the source for Monsters Univeristy is being used! This article is not fit for purpose at the moment and needs to be overhauled. Betty Logan (talk) 18:47, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- Checking the page there a couple of things I can do, another page which needs to be checked (expend) is List of animated box office bombs.82.38.157.176 (talk) 11:33, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
- Is the immediate attention tag still necessary? The contents have changed significantly since it was added. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 02:45, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

The Lion King remake opening weekend?
[edit]Why is there such a huge discrepancy between the number listed here and the number that was reported at the time? For example, this says it made $446.1 million, almost $200 million more than what the article says: https://deadline.com/2019/07/the-lion-king-spider-man-far-from-home-avengers-endgame-toy-story-4-aladdin-china-global-international-box-office-1202650112/ Alphius (talk) 20:30, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
Inside Out 2 v. Super Mario Bros Movie
[edit]Apparently Inside Out 2 is the highest grossing animated opening now, but the Mario Movie according to this article has grossed 375 million. What's up with that? I saw this article [2]https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/inside-out-2-takes-295-million-and-breaks-box-office-records-in-a-big-boost-for-disney/ar-BB1onarz?ocid=BingNewsSearch from Business Insider (it's on msn) that links to a Disney investor site. What do the experienced editors think of this? AMD Fan 98 (talk) 14:49, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
