List evolution - Active v Defunct
[edit]This list of glaciers was compiled from GNIS data on Glaciers for Glacier county and Flathead county Montana. The only glaciers listed in the active section are those for which there are already WP articles about the Glacier. The GNP site does not list the names of the 26 active glaciers. Once sources are found that identify the remaining active glaciers, names will be moved to the active section.--Mike Cline (talk) 23:08, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- Looks great...I think that the best way to list known glaciers may be with satellite imagery cross referenced with topo maps...I'll work on that soon. I think we might stay away from actully writing articles about glaciers that USED to exist but they should be mentioned here anyway. Last I heard, of the estimated 150 glaciers in the park in the mid to late 1800's, about 2 dozen remain...the climate there has probably experienced a warming trend and the accumulation zone has retreated to the point that the glaciers could simply no long maintain their Mass balance and they melted away.--MONGO 01:30, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Dead link
[edit]Source 3 is a dead link, but unfortunately I'm too inexperienced with wiki to fix it. Would appreciate anyone who can help. Photovolts (talk) 01:12, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- I think they put reference 3 into a full article explaining it all:
- I'll see if I can update. AndresMP.wiki (talk) 00:13, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
