Why?

[edit]

In the first place when I was adding more films in this list, it just got removed. Like, what did I ever done to yall? Do I need to get verified to add more films, or what? I feel like I don’t belong here. I feel mistreated. This is not fair. Jopling horse (talk) 02:58, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jopling horse I wouldn't take it personally. This page isn't protected so anyone can edit it, no verification needed. Yesterday one of my edits was reversed despite me thinking it had some good qualities (Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater is the saying, but on Wikipedia it is very tempting to reverse all changes rather than trying to figure out what to keep) and frankly there isn't much more I could do to get more established around here. It happens.
This list probably needs a scope and a requirement for references or not, which is not your fault. If you added a film not in the given references, this is a possible reason for the reversal.
You made a lot of edits, so just picking one at random, Jupiter Ascending - can we talk about that? Why do you think it has an ensemble cast? It is not mentioned in the article itself. Do any reliable sources like film reviews say it has an ensemble cast? Looking at Ensemble cast it says

In a dramatic production, an ensemble cast is one that comprises many principal actors and performers who are typically assigned roughly equal amounts of screen time.[2] The term is also used interchangeably to refer to a production (typically film) with a large cast or a cast with several prominent performers.[3]

For Jupiter Ascending the first sentence doesn't apply as there are only two principal actors not many. Sentence two: "large cast". Five noteworthy actors may be large, I'm not sure. "Several prominent performers" - again, maybe but it is a judgement call.
As you can see Jupiter Ascending is not a clear cut addition, so we need a scope to figure out inclusion. Commander Keane (talk) 05:13, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I haven’t watched Jupiter ascending myself, so that’s why I assumed it was an ensemble cast. Jopling horse (talk) 15:59, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Rather than judge whether a film has an ensemble cast by weighing its attributes, we ought to be looking at the literature to see whether the film is popularly viewed as one containing an ensemble cast. Let's examine published sources rather than count the number of actors. Binksternet (talk) 04:37, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Binksternet if you are saying we should transition the list to only include entries with a source including "ensemble" I am ok with that. None of them currently do have inline citations, so it is a big job but it can be done. Commander Keane (talk) 04:41, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That would be a good transition, I think. There's no due date, though; no ticking time bomb. Binksternet (talk) 04:43, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So that’s it? I can’t do anything but let it happen? Jopling horse (talk) 19:10, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jopling horse someone needs to go through the list and add a citation for each film, remove films for which no citation can be found and add new films that have a citation. You are welcome to do that. Your additions are still in the page history if you want to work on them. I will do an example or two after I post this.
