Description
[edit]At some point I plan to convert the "Ref." column into a "Description" column so readers can learn a little bit about each film and how it pertains to being set on Mars. However, if anyone wants to start doing that, they are welcome to do so. Erik II (talk | contrib) (ping me) 14:19, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
I've added descriptions for the films. For consistency, I encourage future additions to be accommodated by a description as well. Erik II (talk | contrib) (ping me) 15:44, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Yey or ney? Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 18:28, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hah, I saw that in my research and left it out because it's not technically true. "See also" section, maybe? Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 18:49, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, that would work, with a quick note. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:48, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Alphabetical vs. chronological
[edit]i'd rather see films listed chronologically instead of alphabetically. What do other readers and editors think? 107.107.56.136 (talk) 13:38, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- @107.107.56.136: Funny that you ask that! I asked the WikiProject Film community here. Do you know that you can re-sort the films by year, though? You can click the diamond shape next to "Year". Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 14:19, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
I also think that the layout should appear chronologically by default. I've been changing it every time I visit the page, and I think that every visitor who knows how, likely does the same. Considering the intro and set-up to the article, chronological list is logical. Drsruli (talk) 19:45, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- Drsruli, I don't have a strong preference since I can see arguments either way. However, if we switch to chronological as default, we should have the "Year" column first then the "Film" column. Furthermore, should it be from newest to oldest, or oldest to newest? Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 19:48, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
Obviously, oldest to newest. "Year" column being first seems unnecessary. Indeed, for ease, and as a kind of compromise, suggest leaving "Film" title first, as it is. (Do you see how the premise of the article, is the historical progression of the films?) (If the list was much longer, then perhaps alphabetic would be better, in that case.) Drsruli (talk) 19:58, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- I'm fine with oldest to newest. I suppose I argue for "Year" to come first because when sorting any data table, the default sorting would be columns left to right, not the second-from-the-left, then first-from-the-left. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 20:24, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
The Space Between Us
[edit]The Space Between Us (film) may be a candidate for inclusion. It would depend on if the film is set on Mars at all. Some "Martian" films (generally Martians visiting Earth) did not actually feature Mars. With a proper source, the film can be included. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 21:11, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Amy Wong is from Mars and many episodes actually take place on Mars. Her parents are wealthy buggalo ranchers. The original occupants of Mars are represented as American Indians.
Interestingly, the first season episode "Mars University" is also set on Mars, but does not use the Wong backstory at all. "When the crew arrives on Mars, Fry says that back in the 20th century no one had any idea there was an university on the planet, but according to the Professor it became a liveable planet much later when the university was founded."

Settlers
[edit]Should Settlers (2021) be on this list? tetryon (talk) 05:58, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- Tetryon, yes, that's a good suggestion. Do you want to try to add it yourself? You can use The Guardian as a secondary source for the inline citation. Let me know if you need help. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 16:17, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and added it. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 19:51, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
