Good list but why isn't Planet of the Apes in there? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A03F:4C87:D100:AD9B:BF19:53B:B0BE (talk) 17:07, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

List Cleanup

[edit]

I'm adding citations to this list and noticing a considerable number of films not ABOUT animals. For the purposes of this list, I would consider a movie to be about an animal if:

  • The main character is an animal
  • The majority of the ensemble are animals
  • The plot is primarily about an animal or interacting with animals

I would love more discussion on what constitutes being about an animal, but for the time being am removing movies that I do not believe meet the criteria and listing them below. If anyone disagrees with my assessment and wishes to re-list these films with appropriate citations, please feel free.

I'll revise this list as I remove more films.

In this same vein, I am considering removing all instances of giant monsters, considering the existence of List of films featuring giant monsters already exists and these creatures push the definition of "animal". However I will wait a month or so to allow time for discussion.

Yes, please!
I fully agree with you.
I also don't believe that Tarzan films belong to this list. Sebastián Arena... 11:58, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm seconding this, and the list of Tarzan movies are preserved below for anyone who would like to put them back (especially for any Tarzan films where animals play a featured role):
