List

Here's a puzzler: this is a "list of Hollywood movie studios", but people are adding very small production companies to the list of "mini-majors", and of course many of the subsidiaries of the majors arguably function as production companies in their own right- should there be a list of production companies? If there's a list of production companies, does it really belong in the "movie studios" article? Thoughts? - Puffy jacket 19:32, 5 Jan 2004 (UTC)

"Not all of them are necessarily based at Hollywood, California" — what exacty is the definition of Hollywood studio? We need to be clearer. Jihg 09:48, Apr 6, 2005 (UTC)

Merging "List of Hollywood movie studios" with "Big Six (movie studio corporations)"?

Why don't we merge these two articles? There are very similar. Comments? Peter S. 14:11, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Not only is "Big 6" an industry term, but they earn a huge majority of box office receipts. Merging and creating a redirect should be considered, but only if the section "Major movie studios" is changed to "Big 6". In that regard, the Weinstein Company is a new studio and shouldn't be even considered anywhere near major at this point. They have no box office receipts to speak of (less than $150 million total in its entire history).

Hollywood?

This list either needs serious pruning or it should be renamed List of film production companies, as most of these are production companies (not "studios") and they aren't based in Hollywood, or even the US. JW 15:57, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

==Big 6?== They are 7 and still big 6? Somebody corrected it as i was typing this.

Merge?

The two lists cover the same material; the only difference seems to be the term "motion picture" vs "film" and the format of the list. Her Pegship (tis herself) 22:54, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Name

What should the name of this list be called?

Structure

The Structure should match http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_publishers —Preceding unsigned comment added by Misterix (talkcontribs) 07:06, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

I made this into a film distribution list because a film production list would be nearly impossible to have every single company. In addition, to qualify for it to be on the list it has to have at least distributed 1 film theatrically.
