Classification

[edit]

Wouldn't it be better if this table was sorted into A-Z, with a table of contents, like in List of Saints? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kdpssps (talkcontribs) 23:35, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Achillas

[edit]

The first Achillas on the list was around before Jesus, and the article has nothing to do with Christinaity, is he a saint, or is it a mistake? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.254.5.57 (talk) 04:23, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of saints...and?

[edit]

The title is List of early Christian saints, but the list also contains the names of angels and archangels; these are the only figures I noticed on a quick review. Should these be excluded or should the title be changed? --StormRider 23:07, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This was made from List of saints. RCs and maybe other churches honor angels as saints, and no they are not saints. Fine with me to remove them. --Carlaude:Talk 23:51, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Which churches venerate saints? - possible revision

[edit]

I note that some of the individuals listed are in fact, so far as I can tell, early but only venerated by one or a limited number of the relevant bodies which venerate saints. So far as I can tell, the churches which actively venerate(d) saints include:

There may well be additional churches which do or have venerated saints. If anyone knows of any other Christian groups which specifically honor saints, I would very much welcome being told of them.
If possible, my own personal preference would be to alter the content of the list to try to include those individuals who are venerated as saints by at least the first five listed churches above. I limit the selection to those five, because I am still having some difficulty in finding a full list of the saints of the Assyrian Church of the East, and the information I have found does not seem to indicate that even most of the apostles are included, which might mean that there would have to be a separate list of saints of that church. I think most of us could understand how it would possible that the Arian church mentioned above, if a full calendar of saints existed, might well possibly differ dramatically from that of the bulk of the others, as would the Donatist list, and that it might make sense to have the lists of saints of those churches listed entirely separately as well.
