Title of article
[edit]Naming the title scientifically..... Such as "List of vector-born diseases". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.82.224.79 (talk • contribs) 03:18, 2 August 2007
I agree. This article is currently called List of diseases caused by insects, which is unsatisfactory:
- The vectors discussed are not all insects: ticks feature prominently; these are arachnids, not insects. We need to say "invertebrates" or perhaps "arthropods".
- This is not a list of diseases caused by invertebrates, but those for which invertebrates are vectors (see Vector (epidemiology)). We need to say this in the title.
- We do need to keep "List of" as per the MOS.
Any suggestions? In addition to List of vector-borne diseases suggested above, here are a couple: List of diseases spread by invertebrates; List of invertebrate-borne diseases. Richard New Forest (talk) 21:35, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- How about List of vector-borne infectious diseases? ---kilbad (talk) 20:22, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
This issue seems to have died 6 years ago, with no action. I'm going to change it to "List of diseases spread by insects" if no one objects. List of vector-borne diseases would be more scientific but there's already Mosquito-borne disease, and this title might be more user-friendly. juanTamad (talk) 02:50, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
Potentially merge with "List of Insect-borne diseases"
[edit]I understand this page is arthropods but it is missing some of the diseases from List of insect-borne diseases. This page also has more detail (host, symptoms, area, treatment) than the insect-borne page for each disease. If others agree I could copy any diseases from the insect-borne disease page to this one and then delete that page. May need some help on filling in the details though (host, symptoms, area, treatment). Mthoma15 (talk) 17:51, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
