Sorting on the Notes column

I have started putting the basic wing variant as the first word in the Notes column, so that this feature can be sorted on. So far I have used; tailless, tailed, canard, ogival delta. Does anybody think this is a good or bad idea? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 17:18, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Classes

The standard list format at WP:AVILIST now includes a Class column. The default classes given would fill this list almost entirely with only two, Jet and Propeller. The guideline allows more appropriate classes for this list to be agreed here.

One approach might be to subdivide jets into Subsonic and Supersonic.

Another approach might be to abandon the AVILIST classes altogether and subdivide entries into Tailed, Tailless and Canard.

These two could both be implemented by adding yet another column for say "Configuration": the Class would then provide Propeller/Supersonic, etc. and the Configuration the Tailed/Tailless classification. But that adds complexity to the table and would need a stronger consensus to make an exception to the guideline.

Missing Delta Wing machine

Willy Messerchmitt designed with Spanish engineers the Hispano-Aviación/ CASA HA-300, with a Delta Wing Planform, as supersonic fighter. It flew as a full size gliding, wooden mockup, but development was discontinued by the Ejército del Aire, all work sold to Egypt, where russian technicians added a tail unit, in the line of Mig-21.
