Clarification

[edit]

I guess that "coverage" means area coverage, right? Others would be population or households. I also assume that the given coverage is that of all providers together. (The source is ambiguous, too) As people may be restricted to one network (except for paying additional fees), an additional column for the largest provider (with name) would be useful. --Mopskatze (talk) 16:26, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading title

[edit]

The title says penetration, whereas the article contains coverage data. I believe penetration means the percentage of population possessing said technology (eg.: smartphone penetration). Though my knowledge is not extensive on the topic, I have never seen it used for describing area coverage. Could someone provide some clarifications?HaiDiagram (talk) 12:09, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

4G penetration != 4G availability

[edit]

This title is misleading, or at least the OpenSignal data is cited incorrectly. Network penetration rate refers to the proportion of the population with access to that network. OpenSignal tracks 4G availability, which is a different metric entirely. Here's the defition of availability from the OpenSignal methodology: "4G Availability shows the proportion of time Opensignal users with a 4G device have a 4G connection. 4G Availability is not a measure of coverage or the geographic extent of a network."
