Templates
[edit]Why are all names covered in templates instead of normal text? Night of the Big Wind (talk) 12:53, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
- Because they were also used where the attribution of the references was in other articles. This mean that any disambiguation, page moves or re-attribution could be done in one place rather than many (on average about 15 places). But the wisdom of the masses has prevailed and the templates have been destroyed. Rich Farmbrough, 22:19, 8 October 2011 (UTC).
Duplicates
[edit]Why are some people listed twice? Some entries appear to be duplicates except for the typography of the initials, while others appear to be pure duplicates, such as:
- Arthur Hall (Signing as A. H. in the DNB.)
- Arthur Hall (Signing as A. H. in the DNB.)
--R'n'B (call me Russ) 21:11, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
- Fixed. Rich Farmbrough, 22:17, 8 October 2011 (UTC).
- This diff introduced one more pure dupe in September 2011. Originally, there was "AHH" and "AHH Huth" but now they're both "Alfred Henry Huth (Signing as A. H. H.)". I'm not sure what the right fix is. There are no other pure dupes. The other dupes down to casing are James Tait(J. T-T/t) and Ernest Clarke (E. C.-E/e.). I assume those two are as they should be. Alphabetical order
[edit]Why are these people not listed in alphabetical order, by surname, which is the only logical way to list people and one that readers would expect? (Unsigned message by Barney the barney barney on 14:39, March 7, 2013)
