[edit]The article does not state explicitly what the date against each constituent means. It might be the year when the company was in some way embraced by the GWR but the "Great Western and Brentford Railway (1872)", presumably the Brentford Branch Line which opened in 1855 (as broad gauge) exclusively for use by the GWR, was surely always owned by the GWR.--SilasW (talk) 15:19, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- According to chapter 9 of MacDermot’s first volume History of the Great Western, the GW & Brentford was an independent company. It was incorporated in 1855 and amalgamated into the GWR in 1872. Geof Sheppard (talk) 13:09, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
