Look of this page
[edit]Clearly, I'm no graphic designer. While I believe this page should list by creator (which is what users will probably be wanting to look up), I otherwise fervently hope that someone with a better sense of design than I will figure a way to make this list nice 'n' clean. It's just starting, and boy, will it expand! — Tenebrae 07:41, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- Although having asterisk-box names and asterisk-box indents, as 82.125.2.57 helpfully attempted, doesn't really work. Reverting to asterisk-box names and regular indents. — Tenebrae 06:09, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
New Teen Titans?
[edit]I'm pretty sure creators Marv Wolfman and George Pèrez appear in a back-up story in the above mag in which they meet the Titans. Not sure which issue though... sorry. -- Mikey —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.44.221.179 (talk • contribs)
more appearances
[edit]There is an issue of Nova where the Marvel Bulletin appears plus there are regularly faces in the crowd in 1970's comics penciled by John Byrne. In addition, there was a gathering in Rutland, Vermont in real life that was depicted several times in comics of the early 70's (both DC and Marvel). By using the JLA, Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-men indexes, starting with the issues mentioned in the article, more appearances can be added. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.100.17.193 (talk • contribs)
Ostrander and Close in Wasteland
[edit]I don't have the copies any more, but I know John Ostrander and Del Close appeared several times in the horror anthology they co-wrote, Wasteland, from DC comics in the late '80s.—Preceding unsigned comment added by MattShepherd (talk • contribs)
Fair use rationale for Image:WhatIf 11.jpg
[edit]Image:WhatIf 11.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

More
[edit]Brian Michael Bendis introduced a few issues of the relatively recent What If...? series, in shadow, I think. There's a list on Julius Schwartz's page of other appearances he's made. Alan Moore and JH Williams III met in an issue of Promethea. (And Moore & Kevin O'Neill are on the title page of the League... collection/comic.) There are dozens more Lee/Kirby appearances in various Marvel titles (and I'm sure there's a list online somewhere). Many, many people are featured in the audience on the cover of the Superman Vs. Muhammed Ali treasury comic. I think John Byrne was in Superman: True Brit. (All my comics are in storage, so I can't confirm issue numbers, etc. immediately.)
- Does Louise Simonson being used to model for House of Secrets #92 (Swamp Thing appearace) count as an "appearance"? ntnon (talk) 18:07, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think so; any more than Funky Flashman being based on Stan Lee.
- I'd also add Superman: The Wedding Album if I could find my copy; ISTR pretty much everyone on the Superman titles at the time attended the service. 92.21.41.183 (talk) 16:15, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Louise Simonson (Jones)
[edit]I added another appearance of Louise Simonson, in New Mutants #21 (November 1984). I took the liberty of moving her appearance in Man-Thing from the J heading to her new entry under S. She married Walter Simonson in 1980 (before the Man-Thing appearance) but kept going by Jones professionally for a little while longer, I think. --Jim Henry (talk) 10:23, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
Jack Kirby is the One-Above All
[edit]Shouldn't it be noted that Jack Kirby is the One-Above All? Fluffyroll11 (talk) 00:02, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
Non-notable entries
[edit]All entries on this list must have articles or have evidence of notability from multiple independent sources per the WP:LISTPEOPLE guideline. Items not meeting these criteria should not be restored. IronGargoyle (talk) 21:20, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
- You seem to be doing a mass deletion of some of the most notable people on the list. Jack Cole created Plastic Man and a number of other features, cartooned for Playboy, has been written about in the New Yorker. Stan Asch, although not a fan favorite, was a pioneer in the field who worked on the Justice Society and other landmark Golden Age series. You have removed some of the stand-out Archie Comics artists. Larry Hama has been in the field for decades and wrote or drew a lot of fan favorite series; Frank Thorne is one of the stand-out artists in the field. If you are not familiar with the field, you should not be editing articles with a cleaver. And if you want to remove a person, it should be done one by one, with reasons particular to that person.
- The other issue, of course, is the purpose of the article. It is not just to compile a list, but to document an industry practice of easter egg type gestures. It is not your standard list of people in a particular category, and should not be viewed as one. 104.222.122.117 (talk) 00:51, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sure if he was written about in the New Yorker, you can add those references to prove that he belongs on the list. This list is not somehow immune from verifiability requirements and each entry much meet the WP:LISTPEOPLE requirement too. While a few of the entries I removed did have a reference, these references fell far short of the standard to demonstrate notability on their own. IronGargoyle (talk) 01:54, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- We should change the title of this article. It is not really a list of notable people as such, nor was it intended to be. A better title might be "List of Easter Egg references in comic books to comic book artists and writers", or something similar, so that we are not stuck in the ridiculous situation of deciding who is notable and how notable they are.
- I have to say, holding yourself out as a judge of notability, without any knowledge of the field, is wrong and shows disrespect for the work of editors. Simply cutting out large sections of an article out of hand, without checking into the notability requirement yourself, sometimes simply on the basis that you don't recognize the name of the editor, comes across as arrogant and not in keeping with the spirit of wikipedia, even if that is not what you intend and even if your motives are good. It also impoverishes the large number of articles where you continue to do this. Bob Gollum (talk) 19:07, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
