Fremantle Line Closure

[edit]

Didn't the Court government in the 70's close the Fremantle line for some time?. Should this be mentioned? [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.200.238.60 (talk) 07:36, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There were also the stations beyond Fremantle: Esplanade, Success Harbour and South Beach. They were in use for the America's Cup in 1986 but I'm not sure of their full history. Nachoman-au 12:12, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think there were special passenger services to south beach and coogee in the deep dark past - i am trying to find my timetables from the 1930s and 1940s (if not mine, the ones at the arhs library sometime in 2006... hmmm) to get a handle on this. are you aware of geoff higham's book - it does help on all this as wellUser:SatuSuro 13:37, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Found the 1950's timetable, Coogee was an excursion location, similar to Mundaring Weir (until about 1949 or 1950, although it closed in 1952) and National Park in the early 1950's.User:SatuSuro 15:25, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also apparently Stokely station on the Armadale line near Albany Highway, Maddington - closed late 80's. Nachoman-au 15:17, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Best way to check is either Geoff Higham's book or the Australia wide rail route book - if you don't know either, let me know and I'll get the correct refs for them.User:SatuSuro 15:22, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps mention of links (rail!) to the Wheatbelt and SW would be good. Also the tram system in Perth is missing from WP, if some rail boffin wants to chase that up. Fred.e 17:31, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gooseberry Hill?

[edit]

In Gooseberry Hill, on the railway reserve between Williams Rd & Railway Rd, just south of where Gooseberry Hill Rd crosses them, there is the remains of a platform. Was this an official station? Callophylla 22:08, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
