The name of the article is List of the cities conquered by Ottoman (Turkish) Empire. But it seems Biruitorul has commissioned himself (or herself) to change the name Ottoman (Turkish) to Ottoman. Why ? My previous question had been replied on the basis of standardization. But what is wrong in giving the alternative name in parathesis ? After all the name of the empire was Turkish empire. Ogier Ghiselin de Busbecq in the 16th century, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu in the 18th century and , Helmuth von Moltke the Elder in the 19th century wrote series of letters about the empire and they all named their books as Turkish letters. In almost all contemporary maps the name of the empire is Turkish empire. Then, what does Ottoman refer to ? It is the name of the dynasty; just like the Habsburgs, of the Hohenzollerns the Romanovs, the Tutors or Safavids. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 12:59, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
