Improving the list
[edit]IMHO, this list should be improved rather than deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.143.218.125 (talk) 03:58, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Instead of just listing chemical process simulators it would be beneficial to see for which purpose they have been developed and how they have evolved over time. Any suggestions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.23.69.3 (talk) 16:24, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
- I modified the list into a table, so for each software we can indicate clearly the purpose of the software and other information. Regarding the evolution over time of each software (e.g. date of introduction, actual version, etc.), I suggest to use the specific page of each software, otherwise the list will become too much confused.
- I also suggested to split the page in two, because mathematical modelling software are not specifically built as process simulation software. For example we can use gPROMS to simulate a process, but to do it we need to model each equipment of the process, instead a process simulation software has this model yet implemented, so the approaches to these two types of software and the graphical user interfaces are completely different.
- In the list there are furthermore other software that are related to process simulation but are not process simulator, so we need to delete these ones or to put them into another section as "Software related to process simulation". --Daniele Pugliesi (talk) 02:15, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
Elements removed
[edit]I removed these software from the list because I think they are not proper chemical process simulators (that is they belong to different software typologies):
- COMSOL Multiphysics - It is a suite essential to model equipment through finite element methods and similar
- ASCEND - Mathematical modelling. Solving systems of non-linear differential/algebraic equations, linear and nonlinear optimisation
- Aspen Custom Modeler - Modelling of process equipment
- EcosimPro - Modelling systems represented by differential-algebraic equations or ordinary-differential equations and discrete events
- gPROMS - Mathematical modelling
