The current incarnation of the Golden Nugget DID NOT open in 1985, that was the first incarnation and it was originally located at the Southern end of the boardwalk next to the Tropicana and that opened in 1985, Steve Wynn who owned it became frustrated with the New Jersey Casino Control Commission and Division of Gaming Enforcement and he sold to Bally's who operated under Bally's Grand and The Grand, it eventually became the Atlantic City Hilton and finally The Atlantic Club before permanently closing, the current Golden Nugget is located in the Marina District and was previously the Trump Castle and Trump Marina.
