Still waiting for recordings of most Bruckner's cantatas

[edit]

There is still no recording of Vergißmeinnicht, WAB 93 and the Arneth Cantata, WAB 61. There is a single recording of Entsagen, WAB 14 on YouTube.

In the single recording of the Mayer Cantata, Kerbl added an organ accompaniment to the a cappella part 2, and made a 27-bar cut in part 3.

The single recording of the Festgesang, WAB 15 by Kerbl is OK.

None of the commercial recordings of the Festive Cantata, WAB 16 is in full accordance with Bruckner's original score. The recording by Clemens Haudum on YouTube is well in accordance with the score, but is overwhelmed by an excessive echo.

The best recording of Germanenzug, WAB 70 is by Robert Shewan, but the pronunciation of the text by the choir and the voice quartet is execrable... In the recordings by Attila Nagy the pronunciation of the text by the Universitätssängerschaft 'Barden zu Wien' is well OK, but these recordings are of low quality.

The only cantata, for which top recordings are available, is Helgoland, WAB 71 – of which two by Daniel Barenboim. --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 12:29, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
