First raw dump ex Evans
Guys, the Lycs do need rework.
- I took Krushnameghs complete Evans list on Excel, extracted Lycaenids, removed extra columns, dumped to text with tab delimits. Used my Evans to rechack scientific names (removed those typos), removed species found in Pakistan, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (we'll never get there folks in our lifetime), Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Malayan peninsula (Mregui, Tavoy, Dawnas etc). Have kept Chumbi valley species as they may be found in other parts of Sikkim. Renumbered the species, did not change sequence of Evans and now have wikified it. Still requires work - its a raw dump I said.
- 318 spp in 76 genera. One months LepIndex work for you Viren. You'll definitely get a barnstar for this!
- Also needs wikification & stubs.
So find the old list below and raw dump on main page. PS No taxonomic changes on main page without talk discussion here, or we'll have chaos very soon.

- Thanks, Shyamal for the hard work. Viren, Lepindexing at your convenience please. Enough work to be called as your 'sautan' by your better 99.9%. Will work on stubs now. Regards, AshLin 14:08, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
Regarding Control Numbers
The reference numbers given in the article list next to the scientific names in parentheses are for use for quick information retrieval in the computer and Evans book. Basically Evans numbering system has been redone after removing the extra-limital species. The control numbers are prefixed 'L' to differentiate them from Evans original numbering which uses 'H' as prefix. This keeps all the reduced number of lycaenid genera and species which actually occur in present Indian political boundaries (excluding Pak occupied Kashmir)in the same sequence. This is vital to help us locate the species data in Evans and the computer as after taxonomic revision there will be drastic changes to the structure of the family and it is vital to keep track of the species in an overall context. These will be removed as soon the taxonomy of this list stabilises, but I estimate this will take at least a year or two. This renumbered Indian Lycaenid list and original Evans Lycaenid list for complete South Asia are available with me. Will put it up on ButterflyIndia and TEP soon.
Regards AshLin.

Progress of LepIndexing
When the going gets tough, the tough get going :-
- Genus Poritia & spp - correct.
- Genus Simiskina valid, but phalena is of Genus Poritia.[1]
- Genus Gerydus is a junior homnym. It is now Miletus. See [2]
The spp symethus, biggsii, longeana and boisduvali are all part of Miletus. Strangely Lepindex does not give a date for Distant in case of biggsii.
- Genus Allotinus and spp multistrigatus, fabius and subviolaceus are correct. Species drumila is of genus Miletographa, while horsfieldii is possibly Paragerydus horsfieldi (Moore 1857).
- Genus Logania and spp correct.
- Genus Spalgis and species epeus correct.
- Genus Niphanda and species correct.
- Genus Pithecops and spp correct.
- Neopithecops zalmora correct.
- Genus Everes is a junior subjective synonym of Genus Elkalyce Balint and Johnson 1995.The spp argiades, diporides and kala are part of Elkalyce but the others are :-
- dipora is part of genus Celastrina.
- parrhasius is part of genus Chilades.
- moorei is part of genus Shijimia.
- Hedge Blue Bothrinia chennelli is OK.
- Malayan Megisba malaya is OK.
- Lime Blue Chilades laius is OK.
- Genus Zizeeria. Each spp now belongs to a different genus! See article!
