Selection criteria

[edit]

Hello bluegrass enthusiasts!

To be on this list, a band must:

  • be a band, not a solo musician - put them on List of bluegrass musicians.
  • play mainly bluegrass, not just an occasional tune mixed in with their punk rock...

and must be a notable band by Wikipedia standards, so:

  • have an accepted Wikipedia page about them (go ahead, create one!), or
  • have citations to independent, reliable source next to the name of the band

Oh, and by the way, I am trying to get together an organized effort to improve the coverage of bluegrass topics in Wikipedia at User:Anne Delong/Bluegrass Topics. Feel free to take on a task or add one to the list. —Anne Delong (talk) 19:00, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Anne Delong: Could you put these selection criteria in the article's lead in proper encyclopedic form with citation to a reliable source in accordance with WP:Stand alone lists#Lead and WP:Stand alone lists#Selection criteria? It looks as though some editors have been ignoring the notability/RS-citation requirement. --Bejnar (talk) 21:06, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think the reliable source cited to should also be independent. --Bejnar (talk) 21:16, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Bejnar, I found a description of a bluegrass band in a published book, and added a short summary and citation at the top of the list article. Only a few of the bands listed were without articles; all of them had some kind of citation. I removed an external link, and replace a couple of references to self-created listings with a festival review. There are a couple of references to AllMusic which I'm not sure about, since apparently most sections of that site are curated by reliable editors, but not everything. Really, though, I don't own this list - if you don't like what I wrote, please improve it.—Anne Delong (talk) 01:55, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
