Proposed move

[edit]

I propose moving this page to either "List of notable artificial intelligent projects" or "Table of notable artificial intelligent projects", based on whether it continues to be a table or a list.

The criteria proposed for notability is either past projects that produced sufficiently meaningful or paradigm shifting results, or current projects that are based on novel theories. The intention is to not have anyone list their "pet project" (there are a good number of them out there) unless they can have some notability first. Many of the items in the list already seem to meet these criteria. I just want to formalize it. --Amit 18:11, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have now moved this page from "List of artificial intelligent projects" to "List of notable artificial intelligent projects". --Amit 18:15, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed conversion to table

[edit]

I propose converting the article content into a table with multiple columns. This will remove the need for partitioning it, and provide info in a structured and more useful way. The proposed columns and sort order are:

  • Type (Strong/Weak AI)
  • Status (Current/Past)
  • Company name
  • Project name
  • Brief description

--Amit 18:11, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seconded: Structure by research affiliation and approach type. There's a lot of chaff here.

Yes, actually - upon further thought, it seems to me that structuring as per your suggestion will be optimal. --Amit 15:22, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mind.Forth

[edit]

Mentifex, the project creator, is a known nut in AI circles; his code and theories are naive at best. Does this project deserve to be in this list, and if so, the veracity of his claims should probably be noted.

Thanks. The item has currently been removed. It and other projects like it may be reinserted only upon verification of notability. --Amit 08:07, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
See the Mind.Forth User Manual to make an informed judgment.
Per policy, only notable items are to be included. --IO Device (talk) 17:30, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you do not stop adding it to the page, a complaint will be lodged with your ISP. --IO Device (talk) 15:22, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

http://code.google.com/p/mindforth is the project page.

Virtual Woman

[edit]

I propose that Virtual Woman be removed from the section on cognitive architectures and possibly the article as a whole. The placement, for one thing, is not fitting; that is not a cognitive architecture, the subject of any research, or even anything more than an 80s chat personality. The article on Virtual Woman, for another thing, was obviously doctored or created by someone with an interest in advertising the program.

Who put Siri on this list?

[edit]

AFAIK, voice recognition + set of macros does not equal AI.
In my opinion Siri is not artificial intelligence.
Wiki site for Siri does not state that it is AI, it states that it is "intelligent personal assistant". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:1470:FFFE:FE01:62D8:19FF:FEA2:66BA (talk) 15:43, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OpenAI

[edit]

Can OpenAI be added alongside the other projects? 126.76.92.162 (talk) 13:14, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No. OpenAI is a company (with a narrow focus), not a project, and this article is about specific projects. As I understand, OpenAI has done some nominal work for reinforcement learning, but nothing notable strikes out. Why should I also not include DeepMind and TensorForce then? --Acyclic (talk) 18:05, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Is there another article where companies that are developing or working on aspects of AI are listed? 180.9.137.85 (talk) 09:26, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ChatGPT

[edit]

I want to add ChatGPT to the list under List of artificial intelligence projects#Natural language processing but was wondering whether that would overlap with GPT-3 which is already on the list. ThunderRedStar (talk) 23:35, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mitsuko, also called kiku could be added to this list

[edit]

Kiku, previously known as mitsuko could be added to this list. Treonsverdery (talk) 02:50, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
