[edit]I think a better title would be "List of Russian Ambassadors to the United States", it just seems to flow better.--TParis00ap (talk) 16:20, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- The main category for this article is Category:Ambassadors of Russia to the United States. Also note other articles at Category:Lists of Ambassadors of Russia by receiving country, one of which is a featured list. The correct diplomatic terminology is Ambassador of XX to YY, as the ambassador is a representative of the sending nation head of state, and Russian ambassador could denote nationality, and throughout the history of the Russian diplomatic corps there are many instances where Ambassadors of Russia (usually the Russian Empire) were not Russian, but other nationalities such as German, Dutch, etc. --Russavia Dialogue 17:51, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Then would "Ambassadors of Russia to the United States" be a better title? I have nothing to support my argument other than it just doesn't roll off the tounge right.--TParis00ap (talk) 02:14, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- When I took List of Ambassadors of Russia to Austria through the featured list process just recently, one thing it needed was to be moved to List of...". As my plan is to get this to the same WP:FL standard, this list article will also need to be named List of Ambassadors of Russia to the United States. Ambassadors of Russia to the United States is a redirect to this article already. --Russavia Dialogue 06:13, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Poletica is the namesake of Mount Poletica on the British Columbia-Alaska Boundary in the area of Atlin Provincial Park. See "Poletica, Mount". BC Geographical Names.. According to this list, Fyodor van Tuyll van Serooskerken was Russian ambassador to the US at the time of Poletica's participation in the Russo-American and Russo-British negotiations of the mid 1820s re what was later to become the Alaska boundary. So if he wasn't the US Ambassador to the United States, what was he? A Special Ambassador? And NB I'm only giving the French version of his name, I don't know its Russian form, or what ethnicity he might have been within the Empire, so just stuck with the French name which is the only form I've seen; as with Furuhjelm there's no doubt different spellings.Skookum1 (talk) 02:42, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
