Mexeflotes
[edit]Please stop putting these back in this list see Category:Amphibious warfare vessels of the British Army and Mexeflote they are operated by the Royal Logistic Corps part of the British Army, a separate organisation to the Royal Marines who are part of the Naval Service. 109.144.202.42 (talk) 16:45, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- It it well noted in the article; "They are operated by the Royal Logistic Corps not the Royal Marines but it is pertinent to include them here."
- Mexeflotes are included merely for reference purposes and there is no policy against their inclusion. For similar purposes the three Bay class amphibious ships of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary are mentioned at List of active Royal Navy ships. Obscure Reality Ping me 16:51, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- That is patently daft - the title is Lnading Craft of the ROYAL MARINES by that logic all the Army's craft should be included and possibly all the RN's amphibious shipping. 109.144.205.22 (talk) 19:47, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Island Class Patrol Boats
[edit]The Royal Marines now have two Island Class patrol boats...
These should be added to the article. David (talk) 15:45, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Updating and broadening the list
[edit]The UK's 2010 Strategic Defence and Security Review must have affected the number of landing craft and changes to this list have ocurred. At least some surplus vessels were put on sale: Landing Craft Utility (LCU) mark 9, number 709: SOLD and 3 Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel (LCVP) -LCVP Mk5 Boat number 9674 (C11): ON SALE; LCVP Mk5 Boat number 9708 (C14): ON SALE; LCVP Mk5 Boat number 9473: ON SALE. Also, as mentioned above, there are now 2 new Island-class vessels though they are patrol boats and not landing craft per se. Perhaps this article could be substituted for a slightly broader one of "list active craft of the Royal Marines"? After all this current list includes 3 mini submarines of the Special Boat Service and it is thought that the SBS also possess various vessels including some boats with stealth features, which could also be included in the list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DJ Frame (talk • contribs) 13:48, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- This is a very good idea, go ahead and make the changes if you wish. I'll move the article to "List of active Royal Marines military watercraft" now.Antiochus the Great (talk) 13:11, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Should there be an article on the Pacific 24s
[edit]https://www.gov.uk/government/news/first-boat-to-support-uks-fleet-takes-to-the-water-in-portsmouth
that are coming into service?
