Two lists?
[edit]Came to edit this as there were a couple of broken links and Wings (1927) was missing. I see there's also a list here: List of war films and TV specials#World War I (1914–1918) Should they be consolidated, or somehow linked? Davoloid (talk) 12:26, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- And there is also the List of films based on war books of which I am the principal author.
- My take on this is that different people have a favourite to work on.
- We want information going somewhere. Let's not force people to conform to someone else's standard.
- I know with the List of war films and TV specials that odd things often appear over there that I have never heard of. I check it occasionally for inspiration.

Table structure
[edit]I was going to start building a page called "List of World War I films", then discovered that there is one now. (Didn't use to be.)
I have introduced a table setup along the lines of List of World War II films and its associated pages including List of Spanish Civil War films.
Thinking historically, I would tend toward handling the Russian Revolution and the Russian Civil War here as well, at least for the time being. There is a great deal of Soviet material but it focuses more on their internal troubles, and not the war with the Germans and Austro-Hungarians.

Other countries
[edit]I know that Turkey has WWI films; there are none at present. There is the Armenian issue as well.
Italian films about their front exist.
What about the Portuguese? Their guys were in the trenches on the Western Front in fulfilment of the alliance with Britain.

The entry for Hedd Wyn has been changed again to show the film's country as UK. The reliable sources noticeboard confirm references cited are more than adequate to note the entry as a Welsh film. Those references include one from the British Film Institute (here) noting the film's production country as Wales. I will now revert to the cited text. Please do not revert without discussing here first. Daicaregos (talk) 21:45, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
- Varlaam has been warned before for an aggressive approach and personal attacks on this issue elsewhere - and for not using the talk page. ----Snowded TALK 09:19, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- Varlaam, as the author of this page, as an IMDb Top Contributor, twice, with a war films specialization, and as one of the authors of the Hedd Wyn IMDb page back in the bloody 1990s, resents 3 years of unrelenting vandalism from this punk.
- When I wrote to the BFI in 2009, three bloody years ago, about this parasite ^^^^^, the BFI told me that he was full of shit.

- When I wrote to the BFI recently they told me you were full of it. I may have made that up but you'll never know. What's with the tough language? Do you think you're Jimmy Cagney! Lol. Jonty Monty (talk) 12:34, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Youtube Links
[edit]Be advised that numerous IP addresses from the same general location are posting links to their Youtube videos claiming they're notable. They have been warned. If anymore are seen, please request admin intervention; they have been given enough warnings. ThanksGuyHimGuy (talk) 20:43, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- If it helps the source where the IPs are registered are from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.GuyHimGuy (talk) 21:01, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
French Films
[edit]You leave out French films of the 1920s like J'Accuse and Wooden Crosses.
- Because no volunteer has added them. It's not hard. Doug butler (talk) 21:41, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Columns
[edit]Too much space wasted on [Country], which could be reduced to 2/3 letter codes and open up [Subject] column. Doug butler (talk) 21:40, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Subject
[edit]The tables in this article suffer from excess whitespace, hence are much longer than needed. Some entries in the "Subject" column could do with a severe cropping, but how about merging the two "Title" columns. Very few rows have anything in the "Original title/(Original script)" and those could be appended in the "Main title" column, or made the subject of a footnote. Result: The "Subject" text would have a wider space, consume less in column-inches and be more readable. Doug butler (talk) 06:00, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
