Puerto Rico Tornado

[edit]

So do we count the EF1 in Puerto Rico today? It was rated by NWS San Juan, but not in the US. Search "tornado Puerto Rico" on google and a lot of news articles appear from it. Thoughts @TornadoLGS:, ChessEric, United States Man. Elijahandskip (talk) 02:12, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Puerto Rico is part of the U.S. but the most I could find is a statement of a "possible EF0-EF1 tornado" ([1]) which isn't a definitive rating. There may be enough to add it, but I'm not sure on the rating. News sources might just be taking the highest part of "EF0-EF1" as they are prone to go for the higher number where they can. It definitely was a tornado, as I’ve seen video of it. San Juan should put it in Storm Data, in which case NCDC should have an entry for it and it could at least be added then. United States Man (talk) 03:21, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would say yes. We consider weather events that hit U.S. territories (i.e. typhoons in Guam) as part of the record system and when I did the older tornado page years, I counted Puerto Rico as part of the United States count. It has its own National Weather Service Forecast Office from the United States, so I think it should count toward the total. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 05:43, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
News reports are indicating that this was an EF1 tornado. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 06:18, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The accidental removal of a bunch of edits

[edit]

@TornadoInformation12: I just want to bring it to your attention that a recent edit you made removed half the edits that were done to the page this month. The edit was to add a source for a cannabis farm in Maud. I would do it myself but I'm not exactly the best at editing these kinds of things. Mmapgamerboy (talk) 20:13, 30 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, United states man did it. Mmapgamerboy (talk) 00:35, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

May 23, 2023 Mortan EF2 Tornado Width

[edit]

In this edit by 2601:248:5080:50f0:d85f:127a:fbc0:fdad, the path length of the tornado was increased from 2.85 miles to 2.90 miles and the width was increased from 1,400 yards to 1,760 yards. The two sources attached to the article ([2] & [3]), by the National Centers for Environmental Information, indicate the width was 1,400 yards and a length of 2.85 miles (1.66 + 1.19 miles). Can anyone locate a source for the new information, because at the present moment, it is entirely unsourced? Elijahandskip (talk) 00:00, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I restored the sourced content. If IP editor wants to change the information, the burden is on them to provide a reliable source for their change. Isaidnoway (talk) 06:11, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
