Chester R. Bender
[edit]- Admiral Charles R. Bender (1914-1996) is missing as Vice Admiral. He was commander of the San Francisco-based Twelfth Coast Guard District in June 1967 (to 1970). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.165.240.111 (talk)

- Bender is one of the five commandants between 1960 and 1990 who were promoted directly from rear admiral to admiral, skipping three-star rank entirely. (The others were Smith, Siler, Hayes, and Kime.) - Morinao (talk) 07:33, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
