When to split
[edit]@Brojam: When the second season of a show begins to air, that is when the list of episodes article is created. This has always been the precedent and there has never been an issue with it. Sometimes it takes a while for someone to actually create it, but once someone creates the article and the show is currently airing the second season, then that is when we do it. I would not describe my edit as "bold" as it's been done numerous times this TV season, and in every season past that I've been here. Take a look at the edit history of The Goldbergs and see when that article was created, or even look at The Blacklist (that article was created during the first season). And even looking at more current examples, shows that are currently airing their second seasons already have an episode list article: Designated Survivor, Star, Speechless, MacGyver, Superior Donuts, The Good Place, The Mick, etc. Any other show whose list of episodes article hasn't been made yet has nothing to do with policy, and it's completely to do with the fact that simply no one has done it yet. You also mention that there's not enough content to warrant a full episode list article, so I'll direct you to: Manhattan (23 episodes), Sherlock (12 episodes), The Catch (20 episodes), Scream Queens (23 episodes), Penny Dreadful (27 episodes), Brotherhood (29 episodes), Da Vinci's Demons (28 episodes), The Knick (20 episodes), Looking (18 episodes), Togetherness (16 episodes), Getting On (18 episodes), Carnivàle (24 episodes), The Newsroom (25 episodes), Rome (22 episodes), and I could go on and on and on. It is completely unnecessary for you to continue reverting my edits to move content to this page. Rswallis10 (talk) 20:09, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Firstly the correct course of action should not have edit warred about it. No reason for you to revert twice and then post why in talk. Should have just taken here and then once consensus revert.
- Secondly I agree completely. I have never seen a show like this not have a list of episodes article by season 2. When I broke apart the character article and season 1, I chose not to do episodes, since season 2 did not air yet and there was nothing to add content wise. I agree though, as soon as season 2 started airing it should have been created. There are many shows that don't have an episodes article, but thats due to lack of popularity to the show or content, such as a lot of HGTV shows dont have a separate article for each season because it just wouldn't make sense. In my opinion once there is enough content to have a XXX (season 1) and XXX (season 2), you have enough to warrant a List of XXX characters (assuming there is more than 2-3 lines per character) and List of XXX episodes. The show 2 Broke Girls has barely any content on the page, not due to notability, but as you stated, just no one did it. - GalatzTalk 20:32, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Please note: There is now a larger TV project discussion about this at Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Television#List_of_episodes_-_when_to_split. Please join the discussion there too. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:26, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
@Brojam, Rswallis10, and Favre1fan93: I don't care when this is decided to split just note to make it easier whenever it is split there is content of what the article would look like right now located at User:TheDoctorWho/sandbox3 and as new content is created on the main page or season articles I'll update it there so that when/if there is consensus to split the article can be copied from there.
