Article
How does this article not conform to the Wikipedia standard? It clearly explains the rules for every solo game used on the show since the premiere, and is not bogged down with trivial information that would only be of interest to hardcore fans of the program. -- 71.35.135.1
3 Strikes
The article says that three pricing games were victimized by a cheater: in alphabetical order Flip Flop, Shell Game and 3 Strikes. The fact isn't mentioned in the 3 Strikes part of the article. Could somebody put that in and maybe explain how exactly they cheated? The Cougar 01:30, August 26, 2005 (UTC)
- As I understand it, the incident involved a woman who was down to two chips, a strike and the last number. She drew a chip out of the bag, and then quickly put it back in before anyone could see what it was- obviously she had drawn the strike. She drew the number on her next turn and won. I don't know the details, though; it would probably be better to know them before we add it to the article.Raymondluxuryacht 23:22, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Honestly, those pretty much are the details. There is one additional, thing, though: for a few months after that episode, 3 Strikes used new strike chips that were white with red Xs instead of the normal red ones with black Xs. That indicates to me that the staff also thought she cheated and attempted to do something to keep it from happening again. TPIRFanSteve 04:20, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- I managed to find out when the incident occurred, so I'll go ahead and add it to the page.Raymondluxuryacht 19:05, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Watch for vandalism
One of my favorite links blogs, Waxy.org (and possibly some other sites as well) has linked to this article, so if this is on your watchlist keep an eye out for vandalism or well-intentioned experimenting. Fernando Rizo 18:18, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
Article Purpose
I've noticed people have deleted some stuff about the history of the pricing games. I think this article has more use than just to describe the rules of each game, but to describe the history and changes of each game. --CFIF 00:51, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- Except that the things that are being edited are stuff that no normal people would care about, grammar and spelling mistakes, and stuff lifted word-for-word from other websites. The goal is not to put down every minute detail about every game: it's about the rules of each one. There are websites out there that go into greater detail. --TLEberle
- Direct from the article title: "This article details the pricing games that have been played on The Price is Right, a long-running television game show." This about the games, not the rules--CFIF 11:10, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, no -- it is about the rules. If you look at the earliest versions of this page, from when it was moved from the main The Price Is Right article, you will see that the content is overwhelmingly about the rules, with a small number of anecdotes and stats about a small number of games. I think Travis removed a lot of information that didn't really need to be in here, and I feel that his point about most people not caring about much of it is completely valid. I know he made the article sound more professional, something you don't really seem to be concerned with, CFIF. I'm going to redo the latter edits; I sincerely hope you won't remove them again. --Steve Gavazzi
- And now that I'm looking at this page, I can see that the person who did the last revert wasn't actually paying any attention to what he was editing – he was just trying to remove any changes that Travis or I had made, without regard to which version read better or made more sense. That's not the right way to go about this. --Steve Gavazzi
- I agree with you about the trivia. I've been watching TPiR for a long time, and I like learning more about the games. I know the rules by heart, but I want to learn more about them.
- Then you might want to check out Golden-Road.net's FAQ, from which a good deal of the information in this article was copied. --Steve Gavazzi, author of said FAQ
- That's beside the point. The purpose of this article is to openly describe every pricing game, all the rules, all the games, etc.
- 1.) That's exactly what's being done. That doesn't mean the article has to have a billion minor details that no normal person is going to care about.
- 2.) You need to learn to comment correctly. I have no idea who you are without searching through the edit history, and I'm not really sure what you were responding to, either. --Steve Gavazzi
- True, true. I don't want every last detail that no normal person is going to care about. You don't have to point that out everytime someone objects to the way you do things. This is a free country and a free online encyclopedia. I digress from the topic at hand. You're doing a good job, Mr. Whoever You Are.
This article is too large
This article is too large. So if nobody objects, I might move the retired games onto a seperate page. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 18:51, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
- I second the motion ONLY if you promise to add more details and pictures to the new site.
- What happened to "I digress from the topic"? Besides, it didn't sound to me like ZZyzx intended to change any content – just move it to turn one large page into two smaller pages. --Steve Gavazzi
- This IS the topic at hand. We're discussing whether the retired pricing games section should be in another page. We all want the same quality that goes into this page into this new page. It's like the Continental Congress.
- I think what I might do instead is have this Pricing Games wikipage be a disambig page and turn each of the pricing games into a separate article. [[Briguy52748 18:01, 12 October 2005 (UTC)]]
- Actually, the correct procedure is to turn this article into a list, not a disambig page. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 20:04, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- Zzyzx11, sorry for the incorrect use of terminology. I am in the process of creating new articles (so is someone else with selected games, I see). This will be a work in progress, and will be completed around my work schedule, so hang tight and look for all-new articles for each TPiR pricing game coming soon! [[Briguy52748 22:29, 12 October 2005 (UTC)]]

Update: It is finished. Each of the current TPiR games have been converted into its own article. Now, the process will entail converting this article into a list. [[Briguy52748 21:18, 19 October 2005 (UTC)]]
Original article moved to "List of the Price is Right pricing games"
As of this moment, the original "The Price is Right pricing games" article has been converted into a list, and moved to this new article.
Remember, the name of each pricing game is now wiki-linked to separate articles containing information about each game, pictures, trivia and much more. Each of those separate articles will have changes forthcoming in the future (namely, a infobox template detailing the important info).
Enjoy, all! [[Briguy52748 21:37, 19 October 2005 (UTC)]]
- This +ist does not extend categorisation. There should be brief descriptions in the list. Zanaq 23:17, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
None of the pricing games have links to their own Wikipedia pages. This is disappointing. The old list page, complete with photos and links to individual pages, was much better. Whoever "cleaned up" this page really ruined things for a lot of TPIR fans. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Serop2 (talk • contribs) 01:49, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Template
We should create a infobox template (similar to the ones on sports teams articles) that contains the name of the game, picture, year created, year retired (if still active, put N/A), top prize (car, cash, one prize, two prize, three prizes, four prizes, prize/cash, car/cash), odds, plus the rules of the game in a nutshell. Wikider 02:36, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
No More Bob?
I think that Bob's name should be removed from most articles. i will post a list of exceptions here as well.24.207.210.139 00:00, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Why...? — Scm83x hook 'em 00:10, 19 April 2006 (UTC
It's not necessary.) Exceptions: All games with his name in it (obviously) Balance Game (the Coins) Clock Game (he's a big part of it) Flip Flop (cheating incident) Golden Road (his entrance) Grand game (Samoans) Hole in One (inspiration putt) Money Game ("El Cheapo" - he invented the phrase anyways) One Away (Logic - remember that blooper?) Pick a Pair (yet again, a blooper!) Plinko (stick) Push Over (China joke) Range Game (Another running gag!) Shell Game (it makes sense to) Squeeze Play (A blooper) Temptation (TPIRFanSteve wanted this, and it makes sense, so let's keep it.) That's Too Much (running gag) 3 Strikes (TPIRFanSteve wanted me to)
Only 19 games. Surprised? I hope you do me too. 24.207.210.139 00:14, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- I don't really care one way or the other whether the rule descriptions mention Bob (the addition of those references was Wikider's pet project, if I remember correctly), but consider this: the show's own official rule sheets for newer games have been known to mention "Bob" where you would expect to see "the host" or some other such less specific reference. As such, I don't really think it's wrong to include his name in these articles. -TPIRFanSteve 03:14, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
There are no "active" games right now...
...food for thought? Maybe all the games should be on one list now until it's made clear which games will survive the transition to a new host? Lambertman 17:32, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- Unless something's changed in the last couple of weeks, there aren't any plans to retire anything. At least for now, I don't think there's any need to screw with the articles. -TPIRFanSteve 04:01, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Timeline edit
for the record, in going through this article, it appears that the link to the pricing game "super saver" is broken, i think because of a missing ")" from the end. i would edit this myself, but i am not sure how to edit timelines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.62.239.87 (talk) 02:58, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Also the timeline gets cut off and you cannot scroll to the right to see the rest. I don't know how to correct this. So if anyone who reads this message and knows how to change it so that you can scroll to the right or make the timeline small enough to fit on one screen without having to scroll to the right, please do so as your help will be needed and appreciated. Thanks. Gibsonj338 (talk) 08:08, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
I can also vouch that the timeline goes off to the right and disappears. I'm going to comment it out from the page for now until it can be repaired. TheHYPO (talk) 17:14, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Retired games merged to here
Per a merge-tag suggestion, I've moved the retired list onto here as a subheader. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:28, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Adding short descriptions
In the event that the mass AfD of the individual pricing game articles is successful, I've started to add brief descriptions of each game to the listings on this page. Comments or thoughts? JTRH (talk) 17:50, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- Short descriptions of the active games are now in place. How much description, if any, should we give to the retired games? Most of them qualify as trivia at this point. JTRH (talk) 23:55, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- Since I posted the above, someone's added brief descriptions of each of the retired games as well as the active ones. The active games and their descriptions can be sourced at the show's Website, but is there any kind of reliable and acceptable sourcing for the retired games? JTRH (talk) 20:32, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
