Well, I don't exactly understand this Wiki page. All the characters are all mixed up, which made everybody all confused. They should all be seperated by book and they should go in alphabetical order, so that they're easier to find. I mean, how would you find Cinna when you think he's a main character, and he isn't? This pages should seriously be improved, or even deleted. Even a 1st grader could do better! Look, my friend wrote a page about cows, and all it said was "cows are awesome", and that article stayed for 6 months without being removed.

Update

We need to update these characters for what happens to them in Mockingjay. I just started reading the book, so I'll add what I can when I finish. --Glimmer721 (talk) 21:00, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that Annie Cresta is mentioned, except in Finnick's blurb? Perhaps she could be put down as 'Year unknown?' Just a thought. Copernicium (talk) 23:15, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

She appears in Mockingjay. --Glimmer721 (talk) 01:35, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Shouldn't there be tributes from older hunger games like mags and maysilee? Pandawing$

Mags is listed right here under the heading of "In the 75th Hunger Games". As for Maysilee, I'm not re she's important enough (she makes no appearence and her story is really only significant to Haymitch and Ms. Everdeen--so we may mention them there. --Glimmer721 talk 01:16, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

On the subject of tributes, why is the District 5 Male frome the Quarter Quell mentioned in the characters section, and other, equally important characters from the 74th Hunger Games aren't included (District 3 Boy, District 10 Boy, District 8 Girl, Disrtict 9 Boy) N11wez23 (talk) 17:15, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

???

How are Cinna, Effie, and Katniss' prep team "minor characters?" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.189.116.112 (talk) 00:12, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Because, while they are steadily appearing characters, they don't really strongly affect the plot in any way. PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:47, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
On the contry - Cinna inspires the dress that brings on the slogan that runs throught the books - "The girl on fire", "Catching Fire", "Playing fire" ect... RjSowdenr Unsigned 02:48, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Order by Book

I'd like to see characters broken out by book volume. Grouping them together makes it hard to avoid spoliers for those who haven't read through the entire trilogy.Embank (talk) 23:34, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Spoilers are unavoidable. See WP:SPOILER. --Glimmer721 talk 00:12, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Changing the page to have characters listed by book doesn't make sense as most of the characters appear throughout the series. Do you really want 3 separate entries for Haymitch or Gale? A solution that would prevent inadvertent spoiling would be to have 3 paragraphs for major characters. Each paragraph can begin, "In Catching Fire or Mockingjay, such and such happened to this person." That way readers can stop reading when they get to the proper paragraph, but we won't have multiple entries for the same characters. Harrylovesjeni65 (talk) 00:19, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Notable?

How is Prim notable enough for her own page? If her, than why not Katniss's mother? Are there any reviews that really mention her that much? I think she should just be on the list of characters. PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:44, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

I completely agree, she is not notable enough for her own page. Same goes for most of the other individual character articles, particularly President Snow and Haymitch Abernathy. Andrea (talk) 04:28, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
I agree, too. Probably only Katniss, Peeta, and possibly Gale should have their own page. User:Alaric Damon created them, but I think they would do better as redirects to their section on List of characters in the Hunger Games trilogy. --Glimmer721 talk 19:58, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Bulldogbrooke (talk) 17:03, 7 July 2011 (UTC)== Merge Haymitch Abernathy to this article == Non notable, cannot be expanded much further. Merging that article and a couple others would be appropriate, as only Katniss seems notable right now. Fearstreetsaga (talk) 20:24, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Agree, not notable. Andrea (talk) 21:31, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Agree Glimmer721 talk 22:51, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Right. He's more of a supporting character and doesn't need a separate page. -Pandawing$: (talk) 02:35, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

I disagree!, -Angelcook — Preceding unsigned comment added by Angelcook (talkcontribs) 01:31, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

OMG! Haymitch should NOT merge! He is an important character! Prim deserves a page too because she is so important to Katniss!!!!!!!!!!!! Peeta should have his own page, as should Gale! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.234.7.69 (talk) 01:23, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Absolutely not! Haymitch plays a HUGE role in the story! >:( —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.239.228.145 (talk) 00:54, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Haymitch should not merge! He plays a huge role in the all of the books! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bulldogbrooke (talkcontribs) 17:01, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Totally not. He isn't as big in the third book, but he's definitely a major enough character. His article should maybe just be expanded. pluma twitter twitter cheep 00:58, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

separate different books?

I think you should separate characters from different books because some people haven't read all the books and don't want to see spoilers about books they haven't read. what do you think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.173.45.219 (talk) 19:57, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Haymitch should defineitly be merged. Haymitch plays a critical role.

Prim's Cat named Buttercup

I couldn't find any thing that says anything about Prim's cat called Buttercup! Can some one please add this???!!!!--Cheyenne (talk) 02:06, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

I don't mean to critisize, but THE CAT DOESN'T COUNT. What does he do?!?! SIT THERE LIKE A BACHELOR AND MEOW FOR FOOD. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.68.23.33 (talk) 03:53, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, but I agree that the cat doesn't count as a main character. I think we should think more about the humans, and the animals later. Should all the characters be listed in alphabetical order, like the suggestion above? I think it should. Everybody has their opinions, I guess... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.68.23.33 (talk) 03:55, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Elaborating on Finnick's death

I re-read the book "Mockingjay" and found that Finnick wasn't actually decapitated by the mutts, but was critically injured. Katniss threw the communicater into the sewer after setting it to explode to kill them all. ~Scarlet Fitch was here.~ 20:02, 1 March 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScarletFitch (talkcontribs)

Actually he is probably decapitated because Katniss says "Castor, Holmes, and Finnick being decapitated by the...". Unless we go with the narrative of an unreliable narrator. That said, I think it's fairly clear that even if Gale had said nothing, they could not have saved him. Katniss is forced to climb back up to let Gale through, and by the time they are at the top there are only seconds. Even if Gale was not there, what can Katniss have done to kill three lizards, when each takes at the very least dozens (as described by the book) of bullets to kill a single one and she's in a narrow tube and also has to kill only lizards and not touch Finnick? It's clear the situation is hopeless, whereas the original wording read it like Gale asked and Katniss conceded leaving Finnick to die. 69.244.83.44 (talk) 08:20, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Please change the description of Lady, Prim's goat, by removing the words "from Rooba". Lady was bought from the Goat Man, after Rooba said she did not want the goat.

Removed. Glimmer721 talk 19:08, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes, it clearly states that in the book. Rooba was just a grump. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.68.23.33 (talk) 03:52, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Edit request on 10 April 2012

Under the synopsis of Coin, about voting on the New Hunger Games: "The matter is quickly approved with Katniss being the deciding vote." This is incorrect. The deciding vote was Haymitch's. "Haymitch, it's up to you," says Coin. (That's the line that proves it.) So, the sentence should be changed to, "The matter is quickly approved with Haymitch being the deciding vote."

Corrected. Thanks. Glimmer721 talk 23:15, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

I totally agree. It's Haymitch, not Katniss. Duh! x-(

THIS ARTICLE IS IN DANGER

In case you didn't know this, there is a group online targeting and vandalising this article. This is serious. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.86.125 (talk) 17:32, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

As far as I've seen from edits, you're one of them. Oxfordwang (talk) 17:34, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Umm sure... not exactly in danger if you ask me... there should be more effort put into it, that's all. Probably for all the sources from a sister who read the series. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.68.23.33 (talk) 03:48, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

edit on president snow

Article currently reads "He initially appears in The Hunger Games when he crowns Katniss and Peeta as victors", which happens on page 364 in my paperback version. He actually first appears on page 71. The line is, "The president, a small, thin man with paper white-hair, gives the official welcome..." This takes place at the beginning of the Games right after the parade of tributes. I have changed article text to "He initially appears in The Hunger Games at the opening of the Games giving the official welcome..."

minor/major characters

Overall, the assignment of a character being "major" or "minor" seems arbitrary in this article. I would classify Cinna, Coin, Finnick and Rue as major. I would also say that Katniss' mom and dad are as important as Prim, the dad more so. Perhaps major and minor should be determined by how much needs to be written to fully describe the character. For instance, if it takes more that 4-5 sentences, the person's probably important. Or how much of each book is devoted to each character. It just seems like the classifications presented in the article were written when the first book came out and haven't been touched since.

I also think the tributes section and sub-sectioning the minor characters section is confusing. The whole article should be split into major and minor characters. The tributes that are important should go in the major section, the unimportant ones should go in the minor section. The ones without names that are just mentioned to say they died the first day should all be listed together under "unnamed tributes." They're not really important enough to the story to warrant anything else.

Both the major and minor sections should be listed in alphabetical order only with no reference to where they appear in the novel's location or chronology. That is the least confusing format. If this where a synopsis, a chronological list of characters would make sense, but it's not a summary. The way the minor character are grouped by location only makes sense on a map, not in a text.

Honestly, I'd say this entire article should be scrapped and rewritten completely. If anyone objects, please voice your opinion so we can either do it or fix it. Harrylovesjeni65 (talk) 01:01, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Infoboxes

Do we really need all the different infoboxes for the tributes? They don't seem to really add anything. Glimmer721 talk 20:43, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Who is Katniss's second kill?

The article indicates that Glimmer is her first kill and Marvel is her third (which would technically make Cato her fourth) yet there is no indication as to who her second kill was. I'm only familiar with the movie, and there are no kills by Katniss that I recall between nailing Glimmer with the wasps and shooting Marvel after Rue gets speared. 70.72.211.35 (talk) 17:41, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Katniss' second kill is the girl from District 4, who dies a few seconds after Glimmer dies, from the tracker jacker stings. This only happens in the book (where the tributes from D4 are also careers); it was cut from the film. --Ethan1994 (talk) 12:11, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Effie Trinket

Effie Trinket is a main character is the hunger games trilogy and she has been not been included, so a section should be made for her as well — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.209.69.24 (talk) 14:27, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

She is included in the "Capitol" section of this article. Elizium23 (talk) 21:19, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Effie's entire section needs to be updated because it appears to only be based on her attitude in the first book/film. According to many HG fans, she grows as a character and begins to support Katniss. I have not read the books, so I don't feel qualified to update the section. Amber Workman aka Ambiesushi (talk) 19:30, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Finnick Odair

In my opinion, there should be an individual page for Finnick. He is a very important character. Unlike Haymitch and Effie, perhaps, he is severely adored by fans of the series and should have his own page. AlexKnightNZ (talk) 06:24, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
