Wikilinking

[edit]

I suggest that the wikilinks be done without "piping", i.e. "|". How about this format, for example:

Probably better not to wikilink "Sydney", as it will distract the eye from the more important link. Colin MacLaurin 16:58, 15 February 2007 (UTC) Done.DZadventiste (talk) 04:30, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Formerly named"

[edit]

Is it really necessary to have the old names for all the hospitals? Because it just clutters up the article and they aren't known for what they use to be called anyway. If there isn't a good reason to include the old names I'm going to either get rid of them. Or least at least copy them over to the other articles where the hospitals are mentioned and then delete them. Although I don't really think it's necessary to copy them over. --Adamant1 (talk) 20:34, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Past name are worth mentioning in the non-list articles where the exact details of the hospitals are already mentioned then. I don't think past names are relevant to the list articles though. Lists aren't suppose to be supper detailed and it's questionable the older names are even relevant for the articles where the hospitals are currently mentioned. Since a lot of them aren't even notable as they currently are. Plus, the old names aren't sourced anyway. Also, I've looked several of them up and there isn't any meaningful search results for the hospitals under their old names. So they just aren't notable and no will be looking them up under the names anyway IMO. Otherwise, I'd like to see some actual evidence that they are important or worth mentioning. Re clutter, if the list is going to contain extra information, there's more relevant and actually notable/sourced things that could be added like the number of hospital beds. Room in lists is limited though and having both would definitely be clutter IMO. You have to pick your priorities and I think the number of beds is way more currently relevant then what a hospital use to be called. Although, I don't think the old names would be worth including even if the number of beds isn't added instead. Adamant1 (talk) 21:13, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, since your the one that mainly seems to edit this article do you know what the inclusion criteria is or is it just an indiscriminate list?

@Adamant1: I will remove the very old names form the list. Those names most likely aren't important. Adventist Health just changed the names of their hospitals in 2018, and AdventHealth just changed the names of their hospitals in 2019. Catfurball (talk) 21:34, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK thanks. They might be worth adding to the Wikidata entries of the hospitals if nothing else. Do you know what the inclusion criteria of the list is or is it indiscriminate? --Adamant1 (talk) 21:37, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Adamant1: At the end off the year I will most likely remove all former names. And adding the number of beds for the hospitals is a good idea. At a later time when I have all the sections changed over to chart they could then be included. Catfurball (talk) 17:26, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

@Adamant1: Do you think it would be a good idea to add the founding dates for the hospitals, the Seventh-day Adventist Yearbook has almost all of them listed. Catfurball (talk) 17:29, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I asked the what the inclusion criteria was is because I was thinking it would be cool to chop the list down to only hospitals that are clearly notable and then to turn it into a sortable table. It's not worth listing every single 7 bed Adventist hospital in the world anyway. I don't think a table would work as the list currently is though for a number of reasons. How it's relevant to this is that the founding dates would be cool if it was a sortable table. It would also be cool to sort them by number of beds and location or whatever. I think that's much more functional of a way to do it then just a long all inclusive bullet point list. Maybe former names would be worth saving that way to. I think you can have types of information in a table. So like name, location, founding date, number of beds, former name (maybe because I still question the usefulness and even tables need to be concise) or something. Maybe owning organizing/division to, but I'm not really clear on how all that works and it seems like a convoluted way to organize them anyway. Plus, it's questionable if the "divisions" are actual things that are notable outside of Seventh-day Adventist circles. I assume list articles can be in table form?

New table

[edit]

I've implemented significant improvements to the article. As previously suggested, I've organized the hospitals in a single sortable table that includes their name, location, number of beds, year of establishment, and reference picture.

As criteria for inclusion, I have taken into account that the hospital is featured in the Hospitals and Sanitariums section of the latest available Seventh-day Adventist Yearbook, excluding the smaller healthcare institutions categorized as Clinics and Dispensaries. The updated number of beds has been extracted from the latest Seventh-day Adventist Annual Statistical Report.

I have removed references that don't provide relevant information for the list. Many of them merely mention the institution in a non relevant context. I've included the hospitals local language names in small italics. Former names have been incorporated as notes to optimize space. DEGA MD (talk) 12:42, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
